Being Innkeepers ourselves, and having stayed in dozens of B&B's across the country, we know how to pick our stays carefully when we travel. Ok, well my Lovely Redhead does most of the picking and she does a darn good job of it too.

Frank and Karen made us feel welcome and showed us around the Inn and then to our room. The room was located in a cottage behind the main building and was nicely decorated (see pictures) and very comfortable.

Breakfast was an enormous -- and delicious -- egg souffle.

It's a beautiful place, lots of loving labor has gone into making it a great place to stay, both inside and out. You won't be disappointed!

Wedding party there while we were......had children running up-and-down stairs, yelling out....as we tried to rest in the afternoon.......

Loud cursing outside our room about 1am also......

Frank was okay, mannerly....Karen very "aloof"......a disappointing experience!!!!

We are at a total loss regarding this review. Our property is a traditional B&B set up exclusively for couples thus we do not, nor have we ever, accomodated children. This is one reason we have such a high repeat rate, over 50%, and continue to greatly enjoy this lifestyle with our guests.

My husband and I have stayed at the Azalea Inn several times. We Love the homey yet luxurious feel of the rooms and the inn itself. Both Frank and Karen have always taken the time to make sure we are comfortable and cared for. They have accommadated my special vegetarian meals and let us borrow a hair drier when we forgot ours.

I have never been treated rude and cannot imagine either Frank or Karen being anything but friendly. One of the things I like about the Inn is that it is a quiet getaway for adults and in order to keep the inn in tip top shape, there are certain rules like no smoking and no large groups in rooms. To me this is great. If I'm spending $100 a night to stay in someone's home, I'd hope I'd be getting the best.

The inn is thriving and I have witnessed its growth over the last few years as the innkeepers have built several cottages and expanded the Inn. This is a testament to the hospitality of the innkeepers. People cannot get enough of this place.

I've stayed in BnB's all across the world (Greece, Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain) and the Azalea Inn is at the top of my list.

I was so looking forward to a planned trip to a Grandfather Mountain Gospel singing event. Most of all looking forward to a relaxing weekend with family at a beautiful B&B. We were greeted friendly enough and shown to our rooms. Very homey feeling and clean, except I found dirty towels stuffed into the closet. That was nothing though compared to the later greeting we received because we met in one room to talk. We were met with rude and very unfriendly hosts saying we could not meet that way. We are a Christian family with Christian values and would never do anything to cause the behavior we received from the owners of the B&B. The place was lovely with flower gardens and very welcoming rooms, and wonderful home cooked breakfast but not very welcoming guests. We didn't even eat the second morning because we were so put out by Frank & Karen. Maybe they will read these reviews and take this to heart and learn from it. They have a beautiful place that God has blessed them with and should learn to share with other human beings.

The inn was nice...our room was new.....The Elk Room.......the food was good.....

However, we reserved 5 rooms, more than a third of the inn......they knew we were a family group at booking........no children......just adults.....The Elk Room was the largest area to gather.....no rules written or implied that we could not visit in each others rooms.......Frank, the innkeeper, rudely told us it was a B&B...to be considerate of the other guests.......we were the "other guests".....Frank apologized the next morning for what he had said....saying "he understood the need for family time".......his wife was barely civil at breakfast as she served us.....then, she came to our room the next night with the same jargon......both times, it was before 9PM! There was no other place to gather for 7-10 people adequately.......we have visited B&Bs all over the country.....NEVER have we been so rudely treated........be prepared!!! We are still shocked!!!

One needs to set rules as an innkeeper.....upfront!!!!! Not, after people travel from different states to have a "family mini-reunion".......an innkeeper needs to have the personality to "meet & greet guest"........part of the experience......one needs to be consistent with each guest, treating them equally! Karen needs to learn to smile!

THe reason for my review......we were not drinking....we are all CHRIStians.....we were not rowdy......there was cursing at 1:30 am, sounded like they were standing in our room.....???? another guest or from an eatery across the street???? One has to keep the window open in these rooms, as they are hot otherwise......

If you go.....don't take a group......be prepared to whisper.......don't talk loudly........be prepared to "walk on eggshells.....heaven forbid, you visit each others rooms.......otherwise.......a beautiful B&B.....a little "pricey", but pretty.......

A disappointment for oru whole group of 10!!!

Since there are 2 sides to every story, I feel it's important to respond to the review written by the unhappy guest, at the Azalea Inn. This group sat in our gazebo all afternoon and were so loud, one guest called and said he was trying to read a book and had to leave for the premises. Another guest wanted to take a nap and called wondering why these 10 people had to be so loud at the family reunion.
We have been here for over 8 years and more than 50% of our business is repeat. Just the week after this guest left, we hosted another reunion and had a great time with the folks.
Yes, it is true that we asked twice that 8-10 people not crowd into a single bedroom set up for 2. Considerate travelers understand this at B&B's and in the whole time we have hosted guests (well over 6,000 at this point in time), we have never had to request a group not crowd into 1 bedroom.
We have 2 sun porches plus a living/dining room which have hosted groups far larger than 10 comfortably.
As we traditionally do, we accomodated this group's special request to be served breakfast 1 hour earlier.
We do no apologize for our actions and again, it is common practice to limit occupancy of a B&B bedroom to 2 individuals. If having to be told twice upset this guest, so be it.
We stand on our reputation of running the best B&B in the area and leave it at that.

I stayed in this bed and breakfast last November and LOVED IT. The breakfasts were spectacular. It was very hearty and all home made. The hosts were especially friendly and helpful. The Inn is gorgeous. The rooms are each decorated with care and have a homey feel. The bed I had was very new and very comfortable. I could tell these inn keepers cared a lot about their property and kept thing immaculate.

My husband I will definitely return to this romantic setting. I'm sure the summers are great because they have gorgeous grounds with a greenhouse and large flower garden.
