spent an enjoyable few hours at the fort - lots to see in the museum and in the the fort. A great insight into the history of the area. Loved the re-enactments and the musket firing display.

The castle is the oldest building remaining on the great lakes. So much important history is relived here. Easy to spend at least 2 or 3 hours at the fort.

The fort was originally built by the French. It was taken by the British in the French and Indian war. Many original structures an don't rebuilt ones. Active fort until 1920.

There is a lot to see here if you like early fur trade history. We regretted that we did not have enough time to see it all- and that was after spending 4 + hours in the fort and visitor center. The reenactments were top notch and food is offered on site.

It does cost $ to enter but well worth $12. they have to keep this up for all to enjoy. the history lesson alone was great. and the things people accomplished without heavy machinery! make sure you see the movie before going to the fort
