Normally I would write a comprehensive review but it's pretty simple this time -
Table of 7, 4 got food poisoning.

“Expensive but worth it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

I've been to a TdB in another city several times, so I knew what to expect: excellent salad bar, nice surroundings, a parade of very tasty meats, very good service, and a fairly robust check at the end. While my experience at the Yonkers TdB didn't match my prior experience elsewhere, it was still very good.

The salad bar is really more than that, given that it includes soup and a number of non-salad items. If you're into this kind of thing you could skip the meats and for a lower price just concentrate on the salad bar. But most of us come for the meats.

Several different kinds of beef (be sure to try their specialty, the picanha), lamb, pork, and chicken are offered to you by the gauchos that roam the restaurant, and almost all of it is excellent. You eat as much of you want, of whatever you want. It is unlikely that you'll have room for the large pricey desserts.

We had a very friendly waiter who was focused on making our meal great. Unfortunately, other staff in the restaurant let him down. Our table was out of the mainstream, close to the salad bar, and I began to notice that the gauchos were forgetting to come our way with some of the meats, or heading directly back to the kitchen without stopping at our table. One result was that I had to ask our waiter to have them bring the filet mignons to us. He promptly went into the kitchen and returned, promising that they'd be out in three minutes. After three reminders and 15 minutes and zero filets later, he was clearly frustrated at the kitchen staff and gauchos because they failed to deliver as promised. This was one reason why I'd withhold the fifth star from this review--not the waiter's fault, but the other restaurant staff who failed him (and us).

But aside from this glitch (perhaps just an unusual occurrence), overall we were very pleased and would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves meats.

“Good service and nice decor but food could be better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2013

The service was good and the décor is very nice but I thought the food could be much better for the price you pay which can easily total $90/person ($48 plus drinks, coffee, dessert, tax and tip). The food is good but I would not rate it excellent. The top sirloin and lamb chops were the best. I really wanted the filet mignon but it was way overcooked and dry which was a very big disappointment. They also served chicken, pork, and sausage but I thought was also overcooked, dry, and too bland and lacked variety. Also, I found the lobster bisque tasty but there was no lobster at all! Dessert is very good but the coffee was not. The buffet is nice but not great. Overall, the food isn't bad but for $90/person I was a little disappointed that the food wasn't better.

Although it's expensive ($48pp) the food is excellent and the buffet is plentiful. Service was immediate and the waiters were very courteous.

“First-rate in Yonkers? Why not!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

The wife and I were at the Ridge Hill Mall and decided to treat ourselves to a nice meal. We didn't feel properly dressed as we entered Texas de Brazil but the greeters made us feel welcome and seated us immediately (we did not have reservations but had arrived soon after they opened). I was really surprised by the ambiance of the restaurant--I would have expected to see a layout like this in a downtown area. Our server Geromino was extremely pleasant and explained the service procedure (card turned up green or red). The salad bar looked great in presentation and everything was fresh. But the highlight was the procession of skewered meats brought to your table, all cooked to perfection and varied (sausages, different cuts of beef, chicken). All of these servers did the honors with care; in fact, the overall service of the staff made our visit more enjoyable. Texas de Brazil also has an excellent wine and dessert list.
