“Delicious!”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

After hiking last weekend we stopped in this great restaurant for dinner. Prime table, overlooking Woodstock's main street. Server was excellent, food was outstanding. Be prepared for large portions! Most dinners are three courses, including an excellent hummus small plate; we also ordered the potato latkes with smoked salmon wrapped asparagus as an appetizer. Had no room for dessert! The Moussaka and Filet Medallions with Peppercorn Sauce were both delicious. Only glitch was I ordered a Malbec and got a white wine instead. Service was attentive and atmosphere was cozy. We will definitely go back if traveling through Woodstock again.

“Never going back”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Possibly the most overpriced and pretentious restaurant in an area with several overrated places. Food is not very good, service is not good, and as a local resident, I do not know very many people who would go back there.

“Very nice meal but a little noisy”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

The atmosphere was very nice, the food was very good, we like the Falafel's with sprouts, but it was busy and for some reason (acoustics?) it was a very noisy interior, you could hardly hear yourself think. To be fair it is a small dining area, but seemed excessively noisy when full.

“Wouldn't seat us even with table available”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

My friend and I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon at 1:45 for lunch. Most tables were full but there were two 4 seaters and a larger table available and we were the only ones waiting for a table. Because we were only a party of two a man (maybe the owner or manager) wouldn't give us a 4 seater table in case a four came in. He said it would be 5-8 minutes we would have to wait for a two seater table.
The waitress asked if she could sit us at the four and he blatantly refused. Gee, turn away customers just in case a four party came in. Boy does he need to learn customer service or get out of the business. Lost our sale and the waitress lost a tip on the deal since we walked out. He came out and was calling to us down the street but we refused to acknowledge him. Too late buddy! Certainly wouldn't return after that.

“Very satisfactory”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

My wife and I had a very satisfactory lunch at Joshua's in the past week. We had a falafel pita sandwich, which was good, and an omelet made with an abundance of wild mushrooms -- which was superb and the reason we went back on this occasion. We live in Woodstock and have been eating at Joshua's for about 40 years. (The current owner is the daughter of the original Joshua, an Israeli.) The service was friendly and obliging: I quickly got a larger plate for the falafel and also a side dish of tahini sauce because I found the falafel a bit dry. From a coffee bar upstairs that brews Starbucks we ordered strong, flavorful regular coffee and a decaf Americano (both better than the coffee made in the restaurant). With a 20% tip we paid about $23, which is reasonable for Woodstock -- there are no cheap eats here.
