As soon as we got off the plane, I called Metro Motel to request that they send a shuttle out to the airport to pick us up, because they advertise a "free 24 hour shuttle service to and from Laguardia Airport" all over their website. The man who answered the phone told me that they "don't do that anymore". So after forking out an unexpected 32 dollars for a cab ride to the motel, we soon realized upon arriving there that this neighborhood was not nearly as "quaint" as they had advertised. Folks, picture the worst neighborhoood you could ever imagine, and multiply it by ten. Only then will you come close to the neighborhood in which the Metro Motel is located. After contemplating for several minutes whether not to stay there, my girlfriend and I decided that we probably should, seeing as it was nearly 10 pm, and we didn't really feel safe braving the surrounding area looking for another hotel at that time. It was then that the man at the front desk told me that he didn't have a room for us because they "don't take reservations by credit card", even though we had successfully booked our room through their website by using a credit card. After a long and ridiculous ordeal, he found our reservation and we went to our room. The rooms, if you can't tell by reading the previous reviews were atrocious. Stained carpets, trash in the hallways, a bathroom door that didn't close, a tv that didn't work, stains on the bed, shampoo bottles that had clearly been opened, dirty towels, and much more. Needless to say, we were out of there the next morning.
Folks, take any measure you can to AVOID staying at the Metro Motel. Fork over a few extra bucks to stay in a decent hotel.
