The rooms especially the condo's are gorgeous........ I stayed in timbers Building , and that Building was so clean , you could not ask for anything more

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at the Winwood, while we went skiing at Windham Mountain. We arrived late on the first night, to find our room key and receipt sitting on the (closed) front desk, along with a couple of other guest's items. Not a big problem, except that our credit card number was printed, in full, on the receipt...not too safe!

We went up to our room, on the third floor, and I have to say, we were both disappointed. The room reeked of stale cigarette smoke, and looked like it was decorated in the 1960's...not retro, just OLD.

Of course, since there was no one at the front desk, we had to just suck it up and stay. (We left the balcony door open to try to air out the smell, but since our room faced the street, it was pretty noisy.) Even the bed linens smelled like smoke. We inquired the next morning about switching rooms, but there was no availability.

The housekeeper must've tried to air out the room during the day, and it helped some, but not a lot. The room was clean, but definately run down. The shower had rust and some mildew in it. Overall, it was not a nice stay. We are usually not too picky, but neither one of us was happy here. For the same price, we could've booked a bed and breakfast, which probably would've been a better option.

On the up side, the staff was very friendly, the location was good (close to the ski resort), and it was nice to be able to purchase lift tickets at the front desk.

If we were to return to the area, we will definately NOT stay at this property.

My 8 year old daughter and I spent two nights at The Winwood during the winter break. Other than their web site, which does not do the hotel justice, I had no idea what to expect.

We were very surprised when we arrived. This is a wonderful hotel for kids and adults. We stayed at the main building. The room was spacious and newly furnished, with a nice sitting area and a good sized TV. The employees were friendly and helpful. There is an excellent and large game room which contains: Fooz Ball, Ping Pong, Pool, lot's of video games (Galagan / PacMan - my favorites) and a pinball machine. It would have been helpful if the game room had a change machine, but we got past that by getting quarters at the front desk. There is also a 120 seat movie room, but it was not open during our stay.

Their restaurant, The Vines Bistro was incredible. I was expecting ok food, but here again, we were surprised. The food was excellent. Even my picky eight year old loved the kid's menu. I asked the waitress if the chef was local, and she told me he was French.

The hotel is one mile from Windham Mountain. The hotel offers shuttle service as well as lift passes so you can avoid waiting in line. This is a wonderful place. I highly recommend it. We will be going back.

my family just returned home from a long weekend of skiing at windham mt. our stay at windham arms was pleasing. the rooms were new and they offered several different sized accomodations. ours was small, but sufficient, the only draw back was the footboard at the foot of the beds, it extended past the mattress, it was made of wood, and squared at the ends. a terrible combination. when we walked by the corner at the foot of the bed, we inevitably slammed our thighs into the sharp corner of the footboard, leaving a large bruise on both thighs ; coming and going.

this was the only forum available to me to bring up this item, i hope the mgt. monitors the site. this was the only complaint we had to an otherwise fun trip.

i traveled to windham during peak ski season last year. they were not full so they approved my request for an upgrade to the main building.
this is where the check in area is and looks as if it was a traditional home years ago. it is nicely kept up with a fireplace in the living room which was glass and modern and a t.v. room w/large scrren tv. the resteraunt right behind the check in area was large and included a main bar and even a sushi bar which was open on weekends. i took the plan that included meals. i recommend this option. all meals were prepared in a professional upscale restaraunt fashion. full breakfasts and dinners were cooked to order from a special menu. definatly worth the addition cost to the room rate. outside of this main building were 2 other more modern, motel style buildings. peeking into the windows these room looked fairly large, clean and efficient. there was a game room directly between these two buildings and even an ice cream parlor although this was only open on weekends as well. my room on the upper floor of the original building was older than the rooms in the motel buildings. it was definately reminiscent of a 60's ski chalet bedroom.
although the style was a bit dated the room itself was huge for me being alone. there was a large balcony in front facing the main road with lovely views. 2 twin beds and a small living area with tv. the bathroom was very 60's as well but eveything was well kept and clean.
the check in staff was a bit iffy. they was an incorrect quote offered me on the phone but at the end the hotel honored the rate. im not certain how friendly i thought the staff was but i didnt really interact with them much. the service in the resteraunt was quite good though although there was a pretty hard rush for dinner. all in all i give this hotel a good rating. i think a few more smiles from the desk staff could help but really no other complaints. there is a shuttle to and from the slopes offered. i think the price for a midweek stay was a little high for the region though but since there isnt much choice they can get away with it. i think i payed 125 a night with the meals but i was travelling alone so im certain the rate was higher for two. i stayed mid-week which is usually a cheaper period. i would however recommend this hotel.

My family recently spent a wedding weekend at the Windham Arms. I think we all enjoyed the facility. The rehearsal dinner was a barbeque put on by the staff in the picnic area behind the pool. Food was good, but the facility was great for a picnic. The grounds are lovely. We enjoyed visiting on the front porch. The young folks had a grand time at the bar the evening before the wedding. Their continental breakfast was excellent. The staff was most cooperative. I would be happy to spend another weekend at the Windham Arma. My only complaint would be that neither the restaurant nor the ice cream parlor was open.
