My husband and I just returned from the Saratoga Springs, NY visiting family. Downtown Saratoga was booked due to many wedding in the area. Plus they were all just too high! We loved our stay at The Birches!! The rooms have recently been renovated by Don the Manager. Don and Sharon are very nice and helpful! We scooted up the road by 1/2 mile to NOVE' for great appetizers and drinks at the bar! This motel is in a nice quiet location outside of Saratoga city limits by approx. 2 miles or less. Convenient to Dunkin Donuts and Postime deli for all your track breakfast and lunch needs!!! We are already eyeing the Birches for Track Season 2014!!! The rates are very reasonable!!! If you are looking for 4 star -stay in an overpriced place in town! The birches are plain and simple, but CLEAN!!!! Clean is the key here to this little Gem!!! We will be back!!!

Room Tip: All the rooms at this point in time -left of the office are completely renovated per Don.

This lovely, well kept and exceptionally clean hotel about 5 miles from Saratoga Raceway is a little gem. The Motel innkeepers Don and Sharon really know how to please their customers going well out of their way to be sure you have everything you need. Don will even give you free breakfast sandwich coupons for the deli down the street as you leave! Why spend more when you can stay at this quaint motel and be catered to! Very, very nice!

If you are looking for a great deal during the racing season in Saratoga Springs, this is the motel to stay at. We have stayed here in past years, and it is even nicer now since the rooms have been remodeled. Don and Sharon manage the motel, and are very friendly, fun to talk to, and knowledgeable about the area (restaurants, etc.)
Everything in the rooms work well, such as AC, refrigerator, microwave and television. Each guest receives a free breakfast sandwich and cup of coffee every morning they stay, and that is a nice little perk.
The Birches is also very close to the racetrack and downtown Saratoga Springs, no more than 12-15 minutes to either.
We had a very enjoyable stay the first full week of racing season, and if you stay Sun-Mon-Tues night there is a discounted rate. Will definitely be back, hopefully this year.

Stayed three nights. Some friends and I reserved four rooms in the motel for a big weekend seeing music at SPAC. Loved it. Don and Sharon are awesome hosts. Very attentive and genuinely nice. Sharon even shared her cupcakes she whipped up. This is the kind of place you go when staying in one of those chain, walled in, halled hotels where the doors shut like prison cells is not your thing. The area was quiet and the rooms were clean, each equipped with fridge, AC and a microwave. Right next door is a super awesome deli with great sandwiches, a pizza place, a convenient store, post office, CVS and a Dunkin Donuts. Its a short drive to town, to Moreau State park or the Hudson for a swim, and about a ten minute drive to the venue. And it came with a free breakfast sandwich and coffee from the deli in the plaza next door. Really had a wonderful time and will definitely be back if I end up at Saratoga again for a show.

Stayed 4 nights during a business visit. We are accustomed to budget-conscious accommodations and were not expecting anything more than what we received; a clean, comfortable, quiet and affordable place to relax, sleep and shower.

The hosts respected our privacy, but were helpful with our occasional requests for local information. Being from the Midwest, we were pleasantly surprised and appreciative of their treatment of us as guests...felt right at home!

Cannot imagine why anyone would have a problem with the quality of this hotel, unless they are used to staying @ B&B's or other high end accommodations, but I am positive that had there been an issue, it would have been attended to promptly and politely.

Would definitely stay again, highly recommend to anyone seeking lodging in this price tier!

while the motel is showing its age, it's a fine place to stay for awhile. Don and Sharon will take good care of you. The wifi is a nice surprise so you don't burn your cellphone data plan.
