Saturday, May 25, 2013 was Woodcock's grand opening. The place was rocking! Very busy, but only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. Three of us split Poutine (frites, onions, gravy & cheese) - it was delish! We also split a greek pizza - thin crust and loaded with great toppings! They had live music and it was a great evening!

I will start out by saying I will definitely be back - I see on previous reviews poor reports on the food. Our table of four had no complaints about the food, although the service was on the slow side. We didn't have anywhere to be so we didn't mind, but another time I may have been annoyed. The best aspect is their ambience, beautifully decorated and appointed restaurant.

Woodcock had a cool atmosphere. It's in an old cold storage building and they kept many original features like old doors and signage. We sat at the "elevator table" which is in fact a refinished old elevator platform. There was some good live music, nothing too intrusive (we could still converse) and the margherita pizza was really tasty. The beer was quality and we got a growler for later.

This is a brew-pub which is in a re-purposed cold storage building. Much thought went into using the building to it's fullest intent and it is neat to view the large vat area or the "kitchen" from the bar. The wood fired oven and the chef are in view at all times. There is a large table which is made from the floor of the elevator. If you are into craft beer, you may be disappointed since none of their beers are very memorable. I would have to say they have played it safe to appeal to those who are really not into adventurous brews. As for the food, it's OK. The pizza is thin crust, the roasted vegetable salad is overpriced (mine came in a chipped wooden bowl), and they freely use paper plates. While we ate at the bar, 2 employees were heavily dousing plastic mats with cleaner right next to us and the place had 9 people in it at the time- guess we were in their way.

Building looks great. We had six guest and the food was burnt on all six plates. Chef could not handle the wood fired oven. Not good food.
