“Quirky but good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

This is a small place with one waitress, one cook, no written menus; but that serves up delicious freshly made pasta. They had recently gotten their liquor license, but had run out of wine, so luckily we brought wine of our own. I advise that you eat there early because they seem to also run out of food. By 7:30 pm they had run out of bread, several dishes & wine! But the restaurant is clean, full of locally made wood carvings & fun to be in.

“Once in a lifetime!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013 via mobile

We got lucky- we happened to stay in the alpine suites next door (see review) and it was a Thursday night, march 1st. We read about Rosalia's and wanted to try it but the lights were off (apparently she is only occasionally open in the off season- usually open weekends only and already booked usually on saturdays). The kind patrons at alpine inn cAlled rosalia on her cell- she was shopping in lake placid for fresh ingedients but since it was the folks at alpine inn she agreed to open for just us 4- 2 kids 9 and 12 and two adults! Mid meal the earlier reviewer stuck his head in and asked if he too could dine with his party- he said he had been trying to go here for 6 years! We had a family style sumptuous salad with high quality Gorgonzola, large bowls of fresh light minestrone, and an antipasti platter to share with roasted green beans and garlic and spinach and prosciutto wrapped asparagus and balsamic over mozzarella- we simply said yes to soup and salad and antipasti- she concocted the specifics with what she had most fresh- that would have been plenty but our small discussion with her yielded her inspired pasta dishes- a different one for each of us- my daughter's, a fresh pesto primavera, my son's , an Alfredo chicken, my husband's, a scampi and chicken pasta in a garlic wine butter sauce- the shrimps were huge- the chicken grilled and fresh- my dish was with fresh calms and poached scallops in a garlic wine broth - light but generous portion... The fresh sourdough with cheese and garlic came along too!!! In good conscience we had to pay her more than she asked- then she threw in two large heavenly freshly made cannoli- vanilla ricotta with chocolate chips- for the kids, but despite how full I was I had to have a few bites. She was a complete one man show that night- how she conjured that all up alone and got it out to us at a steady pace is a little magical - talking to her - she is clearly a natural with food- and cooking is a labor of love- it was the best quality food you might ever hope for in a restaurant of any type- fresh- and prepared with a light joyous touch in large quantities!!!
If you want a more typical restaurant experience, then don't try this- but if you want to engage in the surreal try get in to Rosalia's!

“Amazing Food, Great Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2013

What an awesome find! No menus but just tell her what you want and she delivers an amazing dish every time. Went with a party of four and couldn't have been happier! Rose Marie was the perfect host... We have even booked a party there because we know how well she will deliver. Thanks again for your hospitality and wonderful food!

“Rosalia's uniqueness”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013

With a no menu concept (brilliant, imo) you get what you want. How she does it I don't know (magic?). Anyway, I was hankering for a simple linguini alla vongole after a day of skiing (Feb 21/13) and did she ever deliver. She produced large surf clams in an excellent oil, garlic and parsley white wine sauce over linguini that was perfectly cooked (al dente). Oh, btw, it came with a simple parmesan dressed green salad (that I didn't order) that excellently enhanced the taste treat. There's more but I'll leave it for another review when I return for the next meal.

Delicious home cooked Italian food. No menu everything is made from scratch and cooked to order. BYOB. Only go if you have time to enjoy the experience.
