“A special place to dine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

800 Maple offers a variety of choices. You can start out by ordering a fresh salad, an array of appetizers or a pizza baked fresh in an open wood burning oven.

We made reservations, which are recommended, especially for Fridays and the weekend. We were seated right away. Our server was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable.

My husband shared some Maryland crab cakes with our friend. There were two crab cakes to the order and my husband said they were the best he's ever tasted. The complimentary bread basket has an assortment of breads with a tomato-type sauce and comes with a generous amount of bread.

My husband and I both had the rack of lamb served medium. It came with acorn squash puree, carrots, green beans and asparagus. The lamb was tender, juicy and seasoned well.

Our friend had the Mahi Mahi. The fish was tender and flaky.

We each had dessert. My husband had the peanut butter pie with chocolate. I had the pumpkin cheescake with bourbon whip cream and our friend had the mixed berry gelato. None of us were disappointed in our desserts.

The side of the restaurant opposite the bar is quieter should you want to be able to converse with your friends. You can, also depending on the table you are given, watch the chef bake in the open wood oven.

“Go to restaurant for business meals or cocktails near UB”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2012

800 Maple is a bit pricy, but never disappoints. There is something on the menu for everyone. Great steaks, brick oven pizzas, pasta (I love the Pasta Bolognese). The bar is contemporary and cool -- quite a change from the family restaurant that once sat here. Service is typically tip top too.

“Great service and delicious food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

We visited the restaurant during restaurant week, with reservations and were able to thouroughly enjoy a two hour meal with friends. The time was perfect and we all commented on how much space there was between tables. It was very comfortable and not crowded as we ate, even though the bar side had a lot of action and there were people hanging out front by the patio.

The food was first class. The restaurant week specials which could easily be a pasta dish were perfectly prepared fish for my wife and a tender tenderloin for myself. Not huge, but perfectly sized so we could also share desert and still be able to walk out with out feeling stuffed.

Desert was delicious and had a homeade gelato that was wonderful.

Our server was very helpful and knowledgeable.

“Rudest Hostess In Western New York”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2012

We waited a long time for someone to come to the hostess station. When she did she completely bypassed us for a regular and then informed us that there were no tables. This was probably the best thing that could have happened to us, as we left and went to Lebros. Where they were happy to see us, the food was excellent, and probably half as much as it would have cost at 800 Maple.

“The restaurant of choice close to the Marriott”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

If you are staying at the Marriott in Amherst/Buffalo, this is the perfect place for your evening dinner. Great service, a huge wine selection and daily changing specials! Try the seared tuna, it is unbelievably good or the prok chops on Wednesday nights. Prices are in the upper midlevel.
