So I visited Apple Wood Cafe for the first time today with my friends. My friends brother owns the place, so she suggested we go there for lunch. Its located on Main St in Williamsville, which I am quite familiar with, but when we pulled up I was surprised, I had never noticed this restaurant before and it was just a tiny place sandwiched between two other businesses.
The cafe is small inside, only like 5 tables, but the atmosphere is still very pleasant and comfortable. The menus are very sleek and well designed, has color pictures of all the menu items, makes it hard to choose just one dish.
Started off with a cold glass of the home made Citrus Ade, which is basically a sweet yummy lemonade and sooo good. Wish i could of taken some home with me.
I had heard the pork belly sandwich was well known and to die for, so I decided to go for it.
OMG did I choose right or what. The pork is marinated in brown sugar and maple and then coated in a homemade BBQ sauce (which is made from the drippings of the pork), and tastes soooo good! The pork is set on a homemade bun, which is perfect, super fluffy and soft, so delish and then topped with a coleslaw of sorts. seriously, was like an amazing food explosion of delicious in my mouth!
My friend got the french onion soup and I of course tried a bite, and it was fantastic! the broth was perfect and the melted cheese in it was soooo yummy.
The staff is great, very personable and friendly. I love how you can see into the kitchen and see everything that is going on. I also like how they have their name and logo on almost everything in the place, even a little sticker for the to go boxes! great marketing idea!! And the prices aren't really that bad at all, especially for the quality and presentation of the dishes. (cute modern looking plates and table wares)
This place is def an overlooked cafe in the buffalo area, and I hope more people end up visiting, it is a place you should be sure not to miss. I cant wait to go back and try everything else!!
And I swear I am not saying all this just because my friends brother owns it. It truly is a great little place and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!!
