We have stayed here 2/3 times a year for the past four years since we moved to the West Coast and return to visit family. The hotel is convenient and has large rooms (900 sq. ft) particularly if you get a corner suite. Also free parking.

The last couple of years we have noticed a decline in the upkeep of the rooms and the common areas. New owners perhaps? There are always pots and pans, glasses etc missing from the rooms and it takes a visit to the front desk to get them replaced. A call to the front desk is not usually answered as there is often only one staff member there and when they wait on people checking in or out they just let the phone ring and ring.
The breakfast is ok. The room is small for the number of guests. We were there on a Monday and asked where the fruit was and were told, nicely, that it wasn't delivered until Tuesday.
We will probably continue to stay there, but it would be nice to see it return to its former standards.

Room Tip: Ask for high, corner rooms.

Stayed July 2011. Room 1608 - top floor - holes in the wall, exposed tv cable, weak air conditioning. The king bed was so worn that we sank down in and couldn't get out of it. IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN ON THE PULL-OUT COUCH IN THE LIVING AREA - AND IT'S HOT OUTSIDE - WARNING - THERE IS NO AC IN THAT ROOM. There are no plastic cups in the bathroom; so we had to use the glass cups from the kitchen area and that's very dangerous with children in a bathroom...(you parents know what I mean.) We had a hard time finding an appropriate family hotel in the area...I think that's why this place was busy. Plus it was cheap at about $150/night including a typical breakfast. PLUS: Near the train station to get into Manhattan.

This hotel is in a very convenient area in White Plains. It is a 5 minute walk from the train station, and very close to the city center as well. The hotel staff was very friendly. There is a mini shop in the lobby where you can buy anything from snacks to frozen foods and sodas. Parking is also never a problem as your car is safely parked in the hotels garage. The rooms are huge! They are a mini apartment. Kitchen is full of utensils, there is HBO and many other channels to watch. I did not have any problems with a stained bed or shower curtain. Everything was very clean and like I said, spacious. Would definitely stay here again in the future for the economical price and what you get is definitely worth it!

The Residence Inn, although part of the Marriott chain, doesn't live up to the Marriott standard of cleanliness. Five of us stayed in a suite for $169, which is terrific if you're visiting NY/NYC area with family. However, the shower curtain was stained as were pillows, chairs, pull out mattress (yellow, ugh) and rugs. We ordered a cot for our son and you could feel every spring, so thank goodness it was a short stay. They do take dogs, which is a bonus as well. The breakfast isn't refreshed as quickly as it should be and is only manned by 1 person. They are centrally located and it is an easy walk to the train to go to the city; however, I'll be looking for a cleaner hotel for the same experience.

We a family of 4 adults booked a suite in Residence Inn in White Plains NY. This was a first hotel on this vacation and it did put a smile on our faces. First to begin i being from the one of asian countries, always wait for help right from entering our luggage to the hotels but it seems in America one has to do it your own or ask if avialable. Nevertheless i felt initially very bad at the service and also found the ladies at the reception not happy to see guest !! But nevermind!! all this was taken up as we deffinately had invested in not too bad a hotel which had all the amenities of a home. It had a small functional kitchen and we were given 2 rooms with a huge living which had a sofa bed . Very comfortable and the housekeeper if i remember elisa was her name. Was a very sweet smiling lady. The only uncomfortable thing here was we had one bath in 4 people but then that was our chioce as we booked it that way. Plus icing on the cake is that hotel is included with breakfast and for vacation family travels like ours this was a real blessing and all this came with very nominal charges, they give you dinner too on weekdays but we had no time for it sorry and the coffee machine on the house is always on. Though the billing was royally goofed up. But then we had proofs and it took time but was solved. We would deffinately recommend this hotel to others. Thankyou to also to the very helpful and sweet lady who was there incharge at breakfast. Thankyou Residence Inn Marriott , hope to come back again.

So, I selected this hotel due to the proximity of where I needed to be the next day (Ritz right down the street). The rooms were fairly clean but I felt it was not up to the Marriott standards. My room had a kitchenette with a stove. The room was very spacious with the bedroom separated from the living room / kitchen. It had two TV's both tube but was fine. I would suggest this hotel for the budgt minded.

They did offer a hot breaksfast in the AM which was ok.

We are Marriott rewards members and always stay at Residence Inns. The staff was friendly and the location was great. When we got up to the 9th floor, it had a strong unpleasant smell. When we got into our room, it smelled like someone sprayed something to cover up another smell - like the smell in a public rest stop bathroom. It was clean looking, large and updated, but we felt there was something a little off with the overwhelming chemical - like fragrance . We opened the windows to try to get some fresh air in there. We were out until late so, just came back and went to bed. The next morning we felt like we just wanted to leave. We got home and we immediately put all the clothes in the wash because everything we had with us smelled like the room. They allow dogs, and it seemed like this is a popular location for dog owners that travel with their dogs compared to other Residence inns.
