I was so thrilled when I sat down and the waiter brought bread and a complimentary bowl of caponata. I love caponata! Unfortunately, there was nothing to love about this caponata. It was very oily and completely lacked flavor. I simply chose not to eat it. Moving on to dinner; I decided to order two small plate appetizers for dinner. The artichoke stuffed with breadcrumbs and baked was a miss, I'm afraid. The breadcrumbs had not gotten crispy in any way, making a gummy mess. My grilled octopus salad was a hit however. The octopus was grilled perfectly. It had a smoky flavor and was very tender and wonderful served to the side of a bed of greens which were dressed nicely. Espresso at the end of the meal was one of the better ones I've had anywhere in White Plains. Wine by the glass was delicious as well.
