What's better than taking in the beautiful view of Hudson Valley and the famous Manhattan skyline than enjoying it with a fabulous cocktail or glass of vino? This city slicker thoroughly enjoyed her most recent experience at Bar Bellota. Fun vibe, great wine selection, awesome cocktails, and nice music. Highly recommend taking in the award-winning views with a nice beverage from the 42nd floor at Bar Bellota.

We dined at 42 as part of the “Dining Under the Stars Package,” which included a one-night hotel stay and a special eight-course dinner. After checking in at the Ritz, we took in the stunning and award-winning views of Westchester County and the Manhattan skyline while enjoying cocktails at Bar Bellotta on the 42nd floor. Great music, good vibe and attentive service. After that we were in for a real treat as we sat down for the ultimate dining experience – “Dining Under the Stars” at Restaurant 42. This exquisite eight-course tasting menu offers New American cuisine with Iberian and Authentic Portuguese influences. We added wine pairing to this package and enjoyed the beautiful varietals selected for each course by Wine Director Ernani. Everything on Chef Anthony’s menu was impressive. A few dishes that I still can’t stop thinking about include:

- Razor Clams with Grilled Jalapeno. This spicy and crispy dish is absolutely delicious and refreshing.
- Oysters Casino. This should be the template for how to make oysters casino. This dish was heated over rocks in a beautiful boat presentation. Great combination of bacon, breadcrumb and oyster. Not over seasoned so you can really enjoy the natural flavors of the tender and juicy oyster.
- Foie Gras Tortellini - Hello!!! Did chef read my mind? My favorite ingredients partnered together for a sweet and savory perfectly executed dish. I could eat this dish for dinner and dessert. Estevino could also enjoy this piece of heaven for breakfast!
- Halibut “Caldo Verde” - This dish was pure happiness in my mouth. Halibut cooked to perfection. The pure sweetness combined with the chorizo is a home run.
- PFC (Portuguese Fried Chicken) with Garlicky Kale, Cheddar Cheese Grits, Tomato, and Honey. General Tso and Colonel Sanders have nothing on this heavenly Portuguese take on an American classic. Sweet, crispy, juicy perfection with the right amount of spice, nut and honey. Simply yummy.

Self-trained Chef Anthony’s “Dining Under the Stars” menu is a must-try for anyone who appreciates fine dining in a fun and romantic setting. Restaurant 42 has just reopened its doors after a recent redesign. I can't wait to go back and check it out!

Eight old friends dined there to celebrate one member's retirement. We were expecting a memorable evening but were disappointed at almost every aspect. The restaurant is located in the South Tower of the Ritz in White Plains, but you must enter through the lobby of the hotel. They have people stationed about every five feet to direct you to the proper elevator to take you to the restaurant....maybe 7 or 8 people. Without it, you would be lost....SIGNS? did they ever think of SIGNS? Anyway, the view does not disappoint, but almost everything else did. The menu for dinner and for dessert is ridiculously difficult to read and understand! EVERY offering has some trendy ingredient or term that required explanation or Googling! AND Yet the "special" of the day was a very pricey spaghetti and meatballs! The food was not exceptional it was pretentious, the service was slow (maybe because they were filming something there for a reality show?, drinks were forgotten, seating is uncomfortable. The area where you wait for the elevator when leaving is bland and industrial looking and to top it off the bathrooms are very small and basic room for one only. For the prices they charge, you expect something close to flawless....It is not a restaurant I would go back to, not with all the really wonderful authentic cuisine we have hear in Westchester County!

There were four of us - - we had a delightful choice of the happy hour bar menu to go along with our wine. The $5 burger was great but $5 chicken just so so, fried calamari-great, fries with Manchego cheese were really good. Off the menu - - WOW, the fried octopus was delicious!!! The ham (jabon) and cheese board was good but a bit skimpy, it did not include any cracker or bread, we had to wait for bread and did not include any olives. Just thought this would be a nice addition. The Kale salad was SUPER! Would definitely go back again - - service was very good - we stayed at the bar - welcoming reception.
