“So glad we found this gem...”
Reviewed August 19, 2010

We stayed at Dillon Hill because a family member was getting married close by. We had family members in one of the cabins and two of the other rooms in the main house. Nina was so accommodating when we booked the room, shuffling people around so we would all have a place to stay. We arrived around 8:30pm, far after we had anticipated and we were greeted with a smile and some excited and friendly basset hounds.

The main house had a large front porch on which adirondack furniture was located. Inside, the common rooms were wonderfully decorated and cozy with a fire place and piano. Although I was there in the summer I was dreaming of playing board games in the living room by the fire during a winter storm. Our room was spacious and was decorated with nice touches making it really feel like a home. The bathroom was well lit and the shower had a nice large head and perfect water pressure. The window in both the bathroom and bedroom had a nice view to Nina and Mike's garden out back. All the rooms appear to have been redone and are immaculate. The bed was so comfortable, and the ceiling fan provided a breeze. I slept perfectly each night I was there.

My favorite part about our stay were the breakfasts! Nina is an amazing cook. The stuffed French toast was to die for! And the broiled grapefruit sweetened with maple syrup has been a regular part of my diet since I ate it at Dillon Hill. To add more amazing-ness to it, Nina cannot eat the food she makes due to allergies, so she cooks by eye and by what she thinks might go together.

Dillon Hill far exceeded my expectations and I plan to return to experience other seasons and more delicious breakfast goodies! :)

Having been raised in the Adirondacks, and having family there, I never had the need to stay elsewhere -- except for a huge family wedding so i did a lot of research before deciding on the Dillon Hill In and Cabin Rentals in Wevertown, NY. i knew nothing about it except for what I read.

I rented a room at the Inn and a cabin for the younger generation. It was perfect. The cabin was immaculately clean and charming; they liked that there were two bathrooms to the two spacious bedrooms in the cabin -- with a shared living space with fireplace.

My room was huge with every detail well thought out...right down to the coaster on the night table. The bathroom and shower were five-star. Nina and Mike, the proprietors, could not have been more attentive and the breakfast was perfect.

Not only was the wedding we attended in Chestertown a wonderful family gathering, but staying at Dillon Inn+Cabins made for a perfect getaway. I recommend it with a huge smile and hopes that many more peopke can get to enjoy this absolutely wonderful place.

We were thrilled to find this charming B&B. Nina and Michael were great hosts as we were made to feel “at home”. From the cozy, clean and comfortable accommodations, to the delicious homemade breakfasts, it was an all-around wonderful experience and a weekend to remember. It was everything we expect in a quality B&B and we plan to return for years to come.

This is the second time that we have stayed at Dillon Hill Inn and Cabins. This time we brought more family and friends (6 separate rooms between 3 nights) since our first experience was so great. When we learned that our niece was planning to be married in the Adirondacks near Dillon Hill, we booked immediately not wanting to be closed out in high summer season.

My husband and I have stayed in a cabin on both visits rather than the full service B and B because we usually prefer more independent housing and flexibility with meals. The cabin was well equipt with a good functional kitchen, 2 bedrooms with private full baths (hooray for bathtubs with the showers!), a charming combination sitting room with the kitchen and dining area on one end and a stone fireplace. We loved the big porch where our kids came to hang out each night. The cabin became command central and the gathering place for our family for the wedding weekend.

My brother booked the second bedroom in our cabin including their 7 year old daughter who was comfy on the pull out couch in the living area while close to her parents.

Other family members stayed in the main Inn which made transportation to the wedding and other events simple and easy to coordinate. At one point when it was clear that my Mom was not going to be able to navigate the original plan, owners Nina and Mike were gracious and flexible in providing great advice and service to accomodate her special needs. In the end, we switched places which gave us a chance to stay in the Inn for one night in a beautifully furnished first floor bedroom with gorgeous wood-working, modern bathroom and a super comfortable four poster bed.

This place has it all for a woodsy weekend. A more casual stay in the cabins or if you prefer a more elegant stay in the Inn with an incredible breakfast. If we have any negative comment, the three beds that we tried were very different. Out first night bed in the cabin was a little hard but the Inn's room the next night was fantastic and we had the option to try the other bedroom in the cabin which was definitely more comfortable. Since that's a very personal issue for most people, be sure to get the innkeepers advice before booking a specific room since there is a difference in the beds remembering that this is a homey B and B and not a Hilton!

Because our main entertainment was a three-day destination wedding we did not plan to do a lot of other things in the area. However, my husband and I decided to stay an extra day and just hang out. For foodies, don't miss Cafe Sarah in North Creek for homey baked goods and a better cup of coffee than you might imagine in the wilderness as well as a trip to Oscar's Smokehouse in Warrensburg for incredible smoked meats and fish, sausages (thank you for bringing back the smoked chicken and apple sausage) and cheese.

We also found Red Truck Pottery near Chestertown on route 9 where the charming owner/potter was on the premises and Scenic Outlook Studios and Gallery in Riparius where Route 8 crosses the spectacular Hudson River where we found beautiful pottery lanterns and other exquisite items. It was particularly fine to see a gallery taking risks by offering great paintings and sculptures alongside pottery from multiple adirondack artists, glass, jewelry and accessories at great prices. All of them were within 10 miles in different directions from Dillon Hill.

I secretly covet the prolific chain-saw bears which are available in this area and plan a trip back to buy one and stay at Dillon Hill again.

Just come back from a week staying first in the Homestead and one night in the B&B, feeling relaxed and refreshed. Mike and Nina managed beautifully the balance between being welcoming, friendly and interested but leaving you in peace to relax in private. Would disregard the one negative review, and the road absolutely is not a problem at all.

Dillon Hill feels tucked out the way, but actually is easy and quick to get to. There are wonderful walks and lots of outwards bound activities (ask Nina and Mike). The B&B and the 2 cabins are on a lovely plot all in view of each other. The B&B rooms and house are to a higher spec than the cabins, but we really enjoyed both.

The first few days we were the only people there, and at the end of the week everything filled up. Both seemed to work well. Missing the great cats Charlotte, Rocky, Autobob and the hilarious Basset hounds T-bone and Dillon already.

I spent about 300 nights a year in B and Bs and Hotels. This is by far the single greatest B and B yet this year or last. The place is spotless, Navy/Marine corp white glove spotless. The rooms are huge. The shower powerful and more than enough hot water. I'm 5' 10" and the girl is 6' 1", and our feet did not hang over the end of the bed.
The common rooms are large, big soft leather sofa, and over sized chairs. There is fireplace to sit by and enjoy a glass of wine or a fine scotch. Best yet there are home made from scratch cookies and brownies.
The breakfast, you have never had such a breakfast like the one served at the Dillion Inn. You not being feed some frozen crap bought at BJ's or some other bulk discount store. The breakfast is again home made, 5 star, big city, chief amazingly delicious. I can not forget the hot freshly made scones.

If your in the area stay here, you will be cheated if you stay any where else.

We looked many hours into where to stay for our long weekend getaway- debating between a motel or a bed and breakfast. We had never stayed in a bed and breakfast together and were a little worried about feeling overwhelmed by our hosts, but we were so pleased with our stay . The hosts were very friendly who have put a lot of time into their home/ BandB and are great cooks- and the dogs were an added bonus! The fire and comfy chairs were a great beginning/ ending to a day in the snow. The brownies were also amazing! Even though it is a decent amount further than other winter destination near NYC, it is definitely worth the extra amount of drive, and we look forward to going again, hopefully in the summer, and would recommend this place to anyone!
