“Place for lunch”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

We have stopped for lunch three times at the Coco Cafe but have not stayed in the rooms since we are fairly local. We like that they have dock space for our boat when we spend time on Lake Champlain. The first two times, once just husband and I and the second time with friends, we had panini sandwiches and were very happy. The wait staff is young and friendly and the outdoor seating with lake view is very pleasant and casual. The establishment is very close to the Westport public launch site, so it is very convenient. However, our recent visit with family visitors was not as good. Three of us ordered the lobster roll and were very disappointed. The sandwich consisted of a scant amount, maybe 2 or 3 tablespoons, of some kind of finely chopped seafood salad served on a low quality pale hot dog roll straight from the bag. I'm not sure it was lobster. A true lobster roll should be brimming with lobster meat on a nicely toasted or grilled New England style top split hot dog roll. The French fries were brown, but limp. I guess maybe it's not a good idea to order lobster roll outside of New England. My husband had a club sandwich and was satisfied. When the very sweet waitress asked us how we enjoyed our food (she saw that we left quite a bit on the plates), I politely explained that I did not enjoy it. She asked if we would like to order some more food since we were probably still hungry. I wasn't sure whether she was offering replacements or not, so I just said, "No, thank you." We'll probably try them again, but I'll stick with the panini and no fries. They also need to do some dock repairs because the end near land was under water. But to be fair, it was early in the boating season and a young man did come out to help us dock safely.

My wife and I stayed one night in cabin 10B as we were on our way back to Toronto from a motorcycle trip to Maine. We booked the cabin the night before, mid-week. The cabin was quaint, clean and very "cottage-y" - not luxurious, but more than acceptable. The site itself is fantastic - basketball courts, a nice beach, powerboat access, canoes, kayaking etc...but the best part of all is the restaurant. The food - and the service - and the view - were amazing. This would be a great place to bring a family - plenty to do with the kids, while the adults can sit back on the porch and enjoy a glass of wine. For my wife and I, this last night's stay was a great way to cap off an amazing week.

Room Tip: Be sure to keep your door closed at night - plenty of bugs outside, and if you are dumb enough to ke...

We want Normandie Beach Club to be our secret hideaway! What an amazing trip we had last week at Normandie. Who knew such a glorious place existed in the middle of the Adirondack Park?! How could such an oasis exist in such a faraway feeling place?! Over the years, my husband and I have visited and lived in many other countries. Above all, Normandie has stolen our hearts forever. The cottages, with their European flair, are beautifully designed, and lovingly maintained. As soon as we put our bags down, we felt cozy, safe, cared for, and relaxed. Everything we could have wished for was at our fingertips in the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting and getting to know the owners, Molly and Waldemar Kasriels. Molly and Waldemar could not have given us more personal attention. They certainly are committed to doing whatever it takes to make their guests feel spoiled and carefree. Such kindness exuded from Molly and Waldemar. They were lovely with us and our 13 year-old daughter. They entertained us all with their warmth, good humor, and with their good guidance about which aspects of the resort we might like to try next. Each time we saw Molly or Waldemar, they wanted to know how we were doing, and what they could do for us. Waldemar took us on a boatride on Lake Champlain, explaining to us the various elements of the breathtaking scene, from the Adirondack and Green Mountain ranges, to the numerous coves and cliffs along the shore. He provided wake boarding lessons with the utmost clarity, patience, and good cheer, while instilling in us tremendous confidence in terms of his expertise, the level of safety in our environment, and the value of the learning experience. Molly seemed to float, camouflaged in her movement pattern around the resort, cottage to cottage, lakefront to the restauraunt, quielty and diligently, with a smile, ticking her mental checklist as she went - becoming visible at the slightest sign that a guest might have a question or a desire. And the CoCo Cafe! How did they DO THAT?! How do they gather the ingredients for such sumptuous fare in such a remote location?! Somehow they did and they do. The menu at the Coco Cafe is wonderfully varied, catering to sophisticated as well as younger, developing tastes. I had the lamb shank our first night at dinner. So tender and delicious, It was served on a bed of orzo and vegetables, topped with a delicate sauce. And the SERVICE is unmatched anywhere from our experience. The waitstaff was happy, fun, courteous, attentive, and engaging. We chatted with numerous guests who return to Normandie traditionally each summer season - and many local residents too who dine at the Coco Cafe repeatedly throughout the summer weeks. So, as hard as we may try to keep Normandie, the one-in-a-million vacation getaway a secret, it's not going to be easy! Shhhhhhhh!

My best friend and I just returned from a relaxing girls' getaway at the Normandie Beach Club. We could not have been more pleased with our spotless and comfortable lake front cabin and all that Normandie had to offer. Although we had day trips planned to many of the hot spots a short ride away, we instead found ourselves lounging at the beach, swimming, and spending time on the lake in the various boats available right at the beach. We also enjoyed spending time at the Coco Cafe, where the view of the lake was spectacular, the menu was exciting, and the food was delicious! The staff members were friendly and attentive, and the owners were delightful. We chatted with them frequently at the Coco, where they would socialize with the guests and the locals who frequented the restaurant, some by boat! There were guests of all ages - all with smiles - relaxing or taking advantage of the many activities available. We left feeling relaxed and recharged. We are looking forward to returning to Normandie next summer!

We stumbled upon this interesting restaurant simply by following signs that advertised "lake front dining." Coco Cafe is located with the Normandie Beach Resort which formerly was a boys summer camp on Lake Champlain. The Coco Cafe features primarily outdoor dining right on the waterfront. Indoor dining is also available for those inclement days.

We parked in an upper parking lot and staff members offered to drive us down to the restaurants in golf carts. Everyone we encountered were extremely kind and helpful. Coco Cafe is decorated like something you would find on an island resort, complete with a covered outdoor bar. We sat at an outdoor table and the breeze coming off the lake felt good on this hot summer day.

This was a Monday lunch and we were the only ones at the restaurant. Staff explained that Monday's are normally quiet and it is the head chef's day off. Only the lite menu was available. We started with an order of onion rings which were tasty, though a little on the greasy side. We all had the house hamburger (cheese, bacon, onions, tomato and lettuce) which came with a side of fries and a pickle. The burger was generous and cooked the way we had ordered and the fries were crispy.

We asked to see the dinner menu and were surprised to find many enticing dishes which we plan to come and try in the future. The chef is Lebanese and many of the staff are students from France, spending their summer in the USA. For consideration: food tends to cool quickly with the wind coming off the lake.

We enjoyed our visit to Coco Cafe and look forward to our next visit.

The location is amazing, the cabins passable, very bare bones. Breakfast is barely edible, coffee horrible, and the staff manager/cook was yelling at the waiters/watresses right in front of the breakfast crowd. The worst however, was the owner. Without getting into too many details, she lied to me about our rooms, overcharged, and clearly has absolutely no idea about customer service. I would not recommend this place despite the lovely location...overpriced, under-delivered, overcharged, and felt totally disrespected by the owners.

The incident described here did not happen. No customer has spoken to me, the only female owner of Normandie, this entire season with any complaints about our pricing or anything for that matter except perhaps their stay being too short...... Our prices could not be more reasonable. We are known for our customer service and pride ourselves on that. I hope to hear from this person directly to better understand his or her anger, but I can guarantee he or she never spoke to me about her concerns about our pricing. Our breakfast receives the highest praise daily. Today we featured Eggs Benedict, marvelous! I am sorry this person is such an angry one and hope we can discuss it between the two of us the clear up any confusion.

What a wonderful spot on so many levels! For families, lots to do for kids from pre-school to college-age, from watersports, tennis or basketball to the game room on rainy days. All those options gives parents a chance to actually relax! Put your feet up for your whole stay, or check out nearby Westport, Essex, and Lake Placid. The waterfront Lake Champlain setting faces the Green Mountains of Vermont to the east, and the Adirondacks to the west. Enjoy a leisurely dinner at Cafe Coco after a day of swimming, boating, fishing or water skiing on Lake Champlain. The owners are lovely and most accommodating, and the college-aged staff are wonderfully friendly and attentive. We've been there a number of times now and always come home relaxed and refreshed. In fact, we love the area so much ... we just bought a house in Westport! We'll be staying at the Normandie Beach Resort this summer while we're up there working on the house.
