“A piece of heaven in Whitianga”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

If you enjoy jaw dropping views, fine wines and a mouth watering platter of meats and cheeses you MUST indulge yourself at Mercury Bay Estate. Having chosen our wine tasting samples and platter, we basked in the sunshine overlooking the bay. A fantastic experience and impossible to walk away without buying a few bottles to take back to Hahei Oceanfront. We could have spent our whole 3 weeks there but sadly had to leave. Definitely worth a visit.

“Very Enjoyable”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

We really enjoyed this experience. The samples were generous and the accompanying platters were carefully chosen. I thought the food was refined and of good quality, and complemented the varied selection of wines on offer.
The setting was wonderful, overlooking the vines with far reaching views of the bay.
Highly recommended.

“A Unique Camper van experience”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

Stayed at the estate a couple of weeks ago. A great experience! John and Lorraine were excellent hosts. The wines and cold platter were great, but most of all the setting was wonderful. We camped the night (this can only be booked if you have a MAUI camper) and we watched the sun go down sitting outside the van in the middle of the vineyard, next morning waking to the sunrise. There are currently only two pitches available on site, we were by ourselve but I would not have minded company. There are no facilities there, so you need your self contained unit fully prepared, but it's only for one night so that's fine. 'Shelby' the dog is great fun.......and it's amusing to watch the French shop assistant boss 'John' the owner about! ..........she was quite sweet really. So if you are using MAUI I can throughly recommend this as stop, when you do the sums it's worth it. There is a great place to eat 2 kms down the road called Eggcentric by the way...and it's a good stop after the TOP 10 Haihei camping ground. Get a beach view pitch at Haihei if you stay there...definately worth the extra few bucks. The one downside of Mercury Bay is that the wine estate is hooked up exclusively with MAUI who we would not choose to hire a camper van from again. Not the greatest of service, we had problems with the van and it was very expensive. Plenty of other camper van rentals to choose from and a lot cheaper.

“Lovely Views”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

The estate is set on a beautiful piece of real estate with stunning views. Found the platters that were offered very average and over priced. The wines were expensive and I later found the same wine actually cheaper at Liquorland in Whitianga which was not good

“Beautiful views and excellent service”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

We caught the ferry across from Whtianga and were picked up by a local shuttle driver who took us up to the winery. We chose to taste all their wines for a set price. It was so beautiful sitting up at the winery overlooking the bay. I could have stayed there all afternoon!
