There are so many great restaurants in nz it is hard to be different and exceptional, so please consider that in this review.
The beer was great, coming from the coromandel brewing company and was disappointed we didn't have time to spend some time there as it tasted great. The wine was well matched to the venison and duck dish which tasted amazing, but I think duck always tastes amazing from qualified and experienced chefs. I ordered mussels which was an entree but almost a meal in itself. The only the real disappointment was the other entree i ordered, which is responsible for a 3 rather than 4 star review, the 'cannelloni' which I was extremely disappointed about. I think that is partly my fault as I was super hyped to get some real cannelloni and pasta that I ignored the ' marks; hot, rich and delicious cannelloni. Instead I got something that resembled cold cream cheese and tomato, although it came with buffalo mozzarella which I love. I didn't eat it all as it made me feel sick. I'm not sure three stars gives this restaurant justice but I hope other people's reviews might help balance out this restaurant's 'true' worth
Pros: nice food, well matched wine and beer, nice atmosphere
Cons: 'cannelloni', expensive dinner ($80) when disappointed
