Loved the delicious combinations of flavours. The local wine was a excellent match. Really enjoyed the Paua entree. The table service was friendly and unassuming. We had a great night.

We were told it was good, but this gem of a place far surpassed our expectations. Having recently moved to the area, we are slowly checking out the local offerings. How fortunate to discover such quality on our doorstep. We ordered the local tasting menu, and I have to say the food was absolute perfection. Fresh, vibrant, pure and yet sophisticated. The service was humble, friendly and alert. We also discovered a marvellous (2011 Wright) Chardonnay that complimented the food sensations perfectly. All in all, a fabulous evening we hope to repeat soon.

From the friendly, courteous greeting to our departure, this was an outstanding experience. The service was attentive but not smothering; very informed and helpful. A delightful mix of formal with kiwi semi-casual. The menu was varied but concise; and beautifully presented. The food was exceptional - good range of dishes, all expertly prepared and attractively presented. Wine list was also concise, but of high quality and perfect for the food selection. Ambiance was spot on - they have not succumbed to the too-frequently experienced trap of trying to cram as many tables into the available space as possible. Lighting was just a little subdued, but still adequate to read the menus and enjoy the food presentation. Portion sizes are generous. Prices are fair - inexpensive, even - especially when considering the quality of the total experience. This is by far the best restaurant on the Coromandel Peninsula, and should be a contender for the Cuisine awards. We were a party of four and each of us selected different items from the menu. Each dish was something special. We will definitely be back and will highly recommend this restaurant to family and friends (and anyone else that will listen).

Had a lovely time at Motu Kitchen. Great surroundings, lovely staff, wonderful food, fantastic service. Would recommend to anyone as a place to visit, whether you want to be in the dining room for a full meal or a casual hour at the bar with a bar menu like we did (try the Falafels!)
