Booked to stay here as its advertised as "pet friendly"; its cheap-as-chips and that's about it.
Run by an ageing hippy, with a few more as residents, its not associated with any of the holiday park associations and that is perhaps not surprising. Close to the beach is the best thing one can say, so if you are a young surfer or budget traveller, may suit you well, otherwise, give it a miss.

Room tip: No road noise, but the boom box in the next cabin made up for it!

We stayed in a self-contained unit. It was okay for the price just needed work like a broken handle on one of the main draws in the kitchen and one window had slipped so there was a gap to the outside. The double bedroom was on a slope and since the bathroom was right next to the bedroom it was on a slope too. The vanity in the bathroom was atrocious, it was full of dust and the shelf had fallen down. The microwave was on top of the fridge-freezer which was big sized. The microwave was definitely child proof as I am 6 2 and struggled to see in it. This cabin had a tv which was great and good working appliances. The man in charge was very friendly. What you pay for is what you get.

We stayed here for 2 nights recently in one of the lodges. It’s was basic & grubby. There was insect life inside the building than outside in the garden & I felt like we could murdered in our sleep during the night.
The manager also took the payment out twice from my bank by mistake but when they paid the money back the exchange rate meant I was charged $35 extra. The manger was rude to me when I explained this and refused to refund any money even though it was their admin error that caused the overcharging.

Please avoid this place if you want to enjoy your holiday in Whitianga. :)

Me and my friend had an amazing time at the campground in Whitianga!
Steve was such a nice guy! He showed us glow wormes at night and he even brought us to the bus stop in the early morning!
I really recommend to stay there while visiting coromandel!

This is a campground with cabins and if you slept outside on the ground it would be cleaner and you would be happier than if you were in a cabin. They reek of mildew and mold, furniture is rotten and falling apart, everything is filthy and the owner is indifferent. We were stuck there one night then walked away from 3 nights that we had paid for (almost $300.). The owner, Grant, tried moving us to a different cabin after we complained but it was as bad as the first. Bottom line - stay away!
