“Lovely tender roast”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

We wanted an early dinner one evening during our stay at Whitianger and called in to The Carvery which opened at 5pm. . We were warmly welcomed by the owners and shown to our table and served our drinks and having time to take in our nicely decorated surroundings with nice artwork on the walls. (the loo's were also spotless) We had the choice of two plate sizes and the choice of 3 roasts and self service for the veggies. Not much good for those who like a desert menu ...ice cream !

“Friendly Owners, Food Reasonable”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

Had a meal at the Carvery on the 14th November this year. Very good value for $21 plate of Roast beef and veg. Beef was lovely and plenty of it, Vegetables a bit washed out and kumara undercooked and not browned at all. $15 dollar plates not good value, plates too small for price.

“'Sunday Roast' any day of the week!”
Reviewed October 9, 2013 via mobile

Exceptionally prepared meals, great service and outstanding value for money. A must visit for everyone visiting Whitianga, particularly if you have kids and want something more substantial than greasy ol' takeaways.

“Value, quality and great service.”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

On offer are traditional roasts, Beef, Lamb, Pork and Chicken, vegetables are plentiful and accompanying sauces for all meats.. The food is delicious and cooked to perfection,(go for the large plate)..desserts as recommended by sue were well worth it..good array of beers wines etc available..certainly worth it for that "just like mothers Sunday roast moment". Hosts are very welcoming and deliver exactly what it says, good ole traditional food..loved it.

“The best damned traditional roast meal”
Reviewed February 12, 2013

Graham and Sue state as their mission ‘to provide you with the best damned traditional roast meal that will match or better your mum’s within our relaxed setting’. Well we put it to the test and they came pretty damned close to my mum’s own roast. Well I had to say that as she might read it.

We dined with them on two occasions and weren’t disappointed on either of them – the food was wholesome and cheap by comparison to other Whitianga establishments but it didn’t detract from the quality of the food or their enthusiasm to serve the best.

With two plate sizes Graham will carve you ‘heart roast beef, crackling good pork, succulent lamb or free range tasty chicken’ all for prices ranging from $15 to $24NZ dependent upon your choice. Add to that a self-service array of freshly cooked veg and then perhaps gravy or horseradish cream and you have a hearty meal.

If you so feel then you can add a desert but be warned you will have to walk it off afterwards. There is also an excellent range of beers and ciders (15) plus spirits and a good wine cellar.
No need to book just look in the door and be greeted as you make your way to a vacant table; they are open seven days per week with just a short break over the Christmas period – even open on public holidays.

Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.
