“Beautiful peaceful bushland setting with contemporary accommodation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2011

Booking was an ease directly though the resort and was supplied with very detailed information on staying there. We stayed in the the Luxury Villa which had everything we needed, and appreciated the little touches like home made mozzie repellant. The outdoor shower was lush and the toiletries sublime. We tried the Empire Chardonnay 2007 which was chilled in the fridge on our arrival, and was the best we tasted in the region. Breakfast was served in the beautiful farmhouse and between the very civilised hours of 8 and 10. Being Easter and so busy in the area, the resort still felt quiet and that you were being well looked after. Location was lovely, although not a great fan of Margaret River at Easter (too busy for my liking). Unfortunately it was the only time could get grandparents to take kids off our hands - so would have chosen to go at a quieter time. Loved Bunker Bay and the Busselton Pier. I would like to see the the retreat offering dinner. With the region being so packed it was difficult to to secure a dinner booking anywhere, and would save a drive.

All in all a wonderful stay if a peaceful part of the world. Highly Recommended.

Staff and facilities at Empire were top class. Staff were all really friendly and very helpful with the local attractions (special mention goes to Suzie - she was fantastic). In great location for Dunsborough (restaurants), wineries (not far down the road), and beaches (Yallingup, Smiths Beach and short drive to Bunker Bay).
We stayed in one of the loft suites and it was great for us - had everything we needed. Favourite time of day was breakfast out on the deck of a morning - yummo!
All in all a fantastic romantic getaway and highly recommended.

The minute you step on to the grounds you feel instantly relaxed, such a serene and calming atmosphere, lovely staff and fantastic facilities, had a very welcoming feel and allowed for total privacy. Great Breakfast too. Felt totally spoilt, will definately be back, for longer next time aswell!

A fabuluous getaway with my best friend was what we needed and were both very fortunate to share it at Empire. The 'Opulence Package' at the Spa was breath taking and we can't wait to come back xxx

Such an idyllic spot. Well maintained, clean and very friendly staff. The breakfast is well worth getting out of bed for and the location is a perfect base to explore the wine region and beaches.

Can't wait to return.

We spent three extremely relaxing days at Empire Retreat. The hotel only has about ten rooms and is extremely quiet - if you want to relax, this is the place! As soon as you enter to a very nice, low key welcome, we immediately felt relaxed.

We treated ourselves to a luxury villa. Not really a villa, but an extremely lovely, large room. Massive bed, jacuzzi, outdoor (private) shower, lounge area, small kitchen and dining table - it's all open plan except for the toilet. All extremely high quality and tasteful. There is a large terrace with beautiful views over the vineyard with a day bed - it's very well designed and totally private.

Breakfast is good, service very nice. There is no service after about 5pm, so if you don't want to drive, then bring food, or order the platter (pricey at $80 though). Actually the whole area is very quiet, so don't expect late nights!

The public areas are also lovely - very tasteful and peaceful. There is a small sauna and a jacuzzi. Large grounds to wander around, so it was a shame there was no pool with all that space. That would be my main criticism.

Activities: wine tours (Bushtucker is good), Yallingup beach is beautiful, Bunker Bay beach is also beautiful and has a great beach restaurant. There is also a spa on site, but it is relatively expensive ($120 for a one hour massage) although we didn't have a look, so it might be great. And if you just want to chill out in your room, then there is a large selection of DVD's, ipod player etc.

Beautiful place.
