We first came down to Wills about a six weeks ago after they had held an enormous wedding. Even amongst the clean up one of the girls was able to find us a free corner and gave us a tasting. Suitably impressed We went back recently for lunch for our anniversary and wasn't disappointed. The food was superb quality as was the wine. We whiled away a couple of hours in wine lovers heaven admiring the view, if Wills could also bottle the "serenity" to take home life would be sweet.

We came here primarily for lunch (not wine) as based on my research, it is one of the best spots to have lunch near the Yallingup Shearing Shed where we had just taken our kids to the 11 a.m. show. It turned out to be an excellent choice.

The cellar door and restaurant is decorated and designed in a modern style with nice sculptures in the outdoor entrance area and very new modern toilets. When we visited on 31 Oct 2012, it was not very busy and there was really no need for reservations but there were certainly quite a few tables occupied.

The view is really as nice as you see in the pictures. To the left of the restaurant is a biggish playground for children. The only negative about this is the choice of sand for the floor which makes it a little messy for kids just before lunch.

We ordered the Day's Special for the kids' meal (which was fresh snapper) but found that the portion was relatively small for A$18. In contrast, the kids' fish & chips at A$12.50 was of a healthier portion. A similar order at Voyager Estate of snapper fish for kids was more generous in size. At Voyager, the snapper fish meal including their famed grape juice drink and ice cream was only A$18. So the kids' meal at Wills Domain at A$18 without any drinks or desserts and small portion of snapper fish was of relatively poor value.

My own order of market fish and dessert of individual meringues, Chantilly cream, marinated strawberries, mint were both excellent. The snapper fish was coated with a curry coating and grilled to tender perfection paired with baby potatoes and a green sauce (may have been avocado). The dessert of small meringues was beautifully sprinkled with flowers, golden yellow crystals which looked gorgeous like jewels and pistachio nuts. My husband's order of pork belly and warm chocolate tart was also good. I took the 2 course lunch special that cost $55 that includes the glass of wine and tea or coffee while my husband's dishes were ordered ala carte as the warm chocolate tart was not included in the 2 course lunch special. Comparing my order of market fish with Wills Domain and Voyager Estate, Wills Domain's rendition was more memorable. I also really love my dessert of meringue (having a weakness for meringue) at Wills Domain and the presentation is just fresh, feminine and gorgeous - with jewel tones and flowers.

In summary, Wills Domain is an excellent choice for lunch if you happen to be in Yallingup. I do enjoy the more casual, arty and chill vibes of the place and the fantastic setting of the restaurant and I appreciate the skills of the chef. Thank you for a memorable lunch! Do, however, work on the kids' meal to provide better value as Wills Domain seems to pride itself on being child friendly. Yet Voyager Estate won out in terms of kids meals. I hope to see the same sophistication in adult meals translated into kids' meals.

We love the wine here and always visit to buy a bottle or three. The restaurant and tasting area has lovely views out onto the vines and there is an outdoor play area for the kids. We stayed for lunch last time (it's advisable to book) and enjoyed the tasting plate although we thought it was a bit expensive for what it was. They also have wifi headphones for the kids so they can watch and listen to the tv without it interrupting the adults conversation. An awesome idea.

Wills Domain has lovely views and wines are excellent. Although the service in restautrant is bit hurried and smile seems to be missing from waitresses faces, the food is excellent. Little twist in each meal made us ooh and aah. Great place for lunch.
