Went with our family for a game of mini golf, and were having a great time, enjoying the gardens and layout. The mini golf is perhaps a bit old, but still works fine and is lots of fun for the children.
HOWEVER, around the 11th hole, our 2 year old wandered about 6-8 metres away towards what looked like a roped off, closed golf hole. Suddenly, he stepped over the rope onto the green, and disappeared into deep water! Fortunately, my husband saw him and ran over to pull him out. The "deep pond" was signed, but we hadn't paid attention as we were enjoying following the golf, and did not even notice that what looked like a golf run was actually a pond covered in tiny green water plants. My son obviously thought it was solid ground, and would almost certainly have drowned if we hadn't seen him - the depth was way over his head so he likely would not have been able to make any audible sound! I went to the front office and told the staff what had happened, and suggested it was important to warn families with toddlers of the danger. The response from the girl at the counter was basically, well, it had a sign, so too bad - OUR CHILD COULD HAVE DIED!!!
We are extremely vigilant of our children around water, but had not noticed that this water was there - it didn't look like water, we didn't see the sign as we were focussing on the golf, and thought our toddler was safe as he was not far away from us at all. So basically, this might be fun for most groups or families, but if you have toddlers or small children, DO NOT let them out of your sight!
The reason I am leaving this review is to ensure I have done what I can to warn others of this very real danger. 2 stars is because for groups without small children, it would be safe and fun though very expensive for what it is.
