Owner description: Opened in 1981, the Wanneroo Botanic Gardens and Mini Golf is just 30 minutes from the Perth CBD. Enjoy a meal at the onsite restaurant Leapfrogs or experience the Gardens as you play 36 holes of Mini Golf. A kaleidoscope of colours, sights and sounds that will overwhelm your senses. Walk amongst the dappled shade of tall trees as you explore the many flower displays, rockeries and waterfalls. The 18-hole Garden course and the 18-hole Billiard Golf course combine to create Australia’s largest outdoor Mini Golf complex. Terrific fun for the whole family!

Went with our family for a game of mini golf, and were having a great time, enjoying the gardens and layout. The mini golf is perhaps a bit old, but still works fine and is lots of fun for the children.

HOWEVER, around the 11th hole, our 2 year old wandered about 6-8 metres away towards what looked like a roped off, closed golf hole. Suddenly, he stepped over the rope onto the green, and disappeared into deep water! Fortunately, my husband saw him and ran over to pull him out. The "deep pond" was signed, but we hadn't paid attention as we were enjoying following the golf, and did not even notice that what looked like a golf run was actually a pond covered in tiny green water plants. My son obviously thought it was solid ground, and would almost certainly have drowned if we hadn't seen him - the depth was way over his head so he likely would not have been able to make any audible sound! I went to the front office and told the staff what had happened, and suggested it was important to warn families with toddlers of the danger. The response from the girl at the counter was basically, well, it had a sign, so too bad - OUR CHILD COULD HAVE DIED!!!

We are extremely vigilant of our children around water, but had not noticed that this water was there - it didn't look like water, we didn't see the sign as we were focussing on the golf, and thought our toddler was safe as he was not far away from us at all. So basically, this might be fun for most groups or families, but if you have toddlers or small children, DO NOT let them out of your sight!

The reason I am leaving this review is to ensure I have done what I can to warn others of this very real danger. 2 stars is because for groups without small children, it would be safe and fun though very expensive for what it is.

We went for a family day out but were let down. You pay but don't get much directions on where to go plus as we were not paying extra for playing the mini golf, staff were not interested to even serve us. The mini golf course is in desperate need to upgrade and maintenance. The small picnic area is in the middle of golf courses so we could not get any peace. Worst of all my wife stepped on a snake (lucky no bites) and were scared cause we have a 8 month old. Finally left the place disappointed within an hour.

It is a shame. The gardens here are very nice even with the long hot summer this year. The playing greens need work. The greens have holes which can be avoided but the leaves, flowers and general garden bits made for playing some what difficult. Then there is the lighting around the place at night could be better with a good clean. They are coved in spiders web and anything else that will stick to them. We felt that the price was a rip off and the restaurant was no better. Don't bother taking any food or drinks as you cant enter with it. It could be a nice place for a picnic on the grass near the pond area. I need to hear about improvements before I go back.

Went here with three little ones, prices are ridiculously high, cheaper to play nine holes at Hamersley Golf Club. The actual gardens are very pleasant except for the swamp like Mosquitos, recommend you cover yourselves in Rid or aero guard! The holes are from when first built, my wife who is now 40 says it hasn't changed from when she played there as a kid, ie, the imitation grass is so worn out you actually see the rubber in most parts, there are large holes where you putt from from the years of people putting in the same spot. The holes are so simplistic it is laughable, ie bricks make up most of the obstacles with old steel pipes to guide the ball. Not a great experience generally and not return unless they had a major capital injection...not great for unknowing tourists..owners should have a look at the reviews as they are very telling..

The food was great but unfortunately the rudeness from one of the gardeners spoilt the day. WILL NOT BE BACK!
