We loved every minute at this beautiful place the owners are great and the chalets are perfect if you want to enjoy the wonderful country around Walpole and Nornalup & Valley of the Giants. The Eco boat trip was a highlight as well as the local Kangaroos each evening, Most of us came from the U.K so to get away from the noise of traffic and replace it with the sound of the surf breaking over the hill was wonderful we also enjoyed the clear night sky with no light pollution a first for many of us.

We only stayed for a night but wished we could stay longer. The unit is very cozy and clean, perfect place to relax and recharge yourself. This place is definitely worth the 10 mins drive from Walpole. It would be a ideal place to base and explore the surrounding nature attractions. We even saw kangaroos on the property. There's a path leading down to the river which was calm and peaceful. We took some wonderful pictures.

Margo was very prompt with answering my queries during booking. Don was so helpful with roads recommendation to our next destination.

The only thing to note is that the property is very dark at night. We did have some trouble locating our unit when we were back from dinner at Walpole town. However, the dark environment is perfect for stars glazing. It's a pity it was raining during our stay.

Thanks Don and Margot for a perfect vacation! The chalet was spacious, very comfortable and had everything we needed. The fishing along the Franklin River was awesome. And the Bibbulman hiking trails, in the giant Karri and Tingle tree forests, close by. We came here from Malaysia to get away from Chinese New Years fireworks every night, all night for 14 nights, so we were very happy with the peace and quiet. We enjoyed seeing so many stars.

Room Tip: all the chalets are excellent, well spaced and have a good view.

Very clean, well appointed cabins, with heaps of room for the whole family. Hosts were very friendly, informative and helpful. Great for teenagers, and they especially liked the canoes. Would recommend.

We stayed in the end chalet, Promised Land. What a view! Just the place to unwind in. Sister-in-law from South Africa was blowen away by the Kangaroos that were on the property, in fact that was one of the reasons why we booked. Don and Margo are wonderful, friendly host. The place was spotlessly clean. Stay here you will not be disappointed!! Linda Crusty and Sally

We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom chalets called Sealers Cove. Upon our arrival we went to the reception were we met the owner Mrs Redman (Margo) to check in. She was very friendly and when showing us round our chalet, very informative of the area the kangroos feeding times etc etc. Our chalet was spotless and vey comfortable, everything we needed was there and anything we asked for Margo & Don couldn't be more helpful. Our kids have not stopped talking about how much they loved Riverside Retreat, so much so we have decided to go back every year from now on for our family break. If its a no hassel break to spend quality time with the family then this is the place for you, I can honestly say it was the most relaxing holiday ever.
Big thankyou to Don & Margo for that....

Upon arrival, Mrs Redman, Margo, showed us to our house. My family and I stayed at the unit known as 'The Railway". She was very informative, friendly & open in showing us around the place and helping us "get started" with the area.

From the living room, at about 4.45 to 5pm or so, we were treated to several kangaroos and a bunch of birds feeding from 2 troughs. If you quietly walk up and peep from behind the trees, it was as good as getting a free kangaroo sighting. It was a lovely sight!

Do not expect 5 star hotel standards here. Do, however, expect to be live in a cosy, humble house that (as far as the one that we stayed in) is with nice wood furnishings that give it a country theme. surrounded with trees and shrubs with a lovely hidden pier. We were lucky to see and feed a pelican!

If you're visiting Walpole and are looking for a place to immerse yourselves in nature comfortably then this is the place to choose! There is no wifi, free or paid, here. It's not a bad thing if it's not something that you're looking for. In this case, I think most guests here are actually looking to get away from technology.

Sadly, they told us that they're too old to run the place so they've put it up on the market. They've been doing this for 30-40 years.

Thanks Mr & Mrs Redman for hosting us for those 2 nights!
