“Kangaroos everywhere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2014

Wanted somewhere that would have wildlife for visiting American friends, did we come to the right place or what! Although wild there is a 30-40 strong mob living in the paddocks around the houses. Ours was a three bedroom house, with three others set around the paddocks all well separated. Surrounded by large verandahs and with kitchen and lounge/dining rooms looking out over the property. The paddocks are very dry but they haven't had any decent rain for three months.
One thing to note is to bring absolutely everything you will need to cater for yourself in the house, the kitchen has all utensils but nothing else, not even pepper and salt. The farm is a good 15-20 minute drive into Walpole and there is 1.8 kms of corrugated gravel road to get in and out of the property, not something you want to be doing in the dark. Yes the kangaroos are still there and not inclined to move quickly.

The resort is remotely located and is surrounded by trees. Large wooden chalets are well placed to ensure your privacy, with rooms that are nicely equipped, clean and will accommodate 6 people. A single toilet located in the middle of the chalet may be problematic at "rush hour" should 6 people stay there. If you are looking for a nice secluded and quiet spot, this resort is ideal. Watching the kangaroos hop around the resort can be entertaining.

Peace, quiet....and kangeroos
Dark, stars....and kangeroos
Forest, bush.....and kangeroos
Birds, frogs ......and kangeroos
Comfy bed, spa bath.....and kangeroos
.......get the picture?!
If you don't like kangeroos forget it
A previous review said it was a ranch with paddocks, yes there is patchy fencing but it certainly doesn't keep the kangeroos in, they go round or under. If they want out they can disappear whenever they want, if you walk the trail round the perimeter you can see for yourself. Yes it is well out of town but that is precisely why we chose it.

Room Tip: There are only four chalets, we were in no.2 and were never without company!

The location is in the middle of the forest and tranquility reigns. The chalets were clean, modern and comfortable and the space around and the views are fantastic. The mob of kangaroos that seem to have settled there added to the fun. Absolutely recommend staying here for a break from the stresses of everyday life.

Spacious chalets located some 15 min drive from Walpole. The property, located fairly close to pristine forests and other attractions, has tamed kangaroos, short walks through the forest and offer a laid back and relaxing atmosphere. We stayed there for three nights and loved it. The only thing I would change are the passive aggressive notes through the house.

The drive from Walpole is spectacular but does not prepare you the drive up the gravel drive. We were greeted by 30+ kangaroos and their joeys bouncing away from our car. Apart from the roo that bounced across the road about 20 yards in front of us they were the first ones we had seen in 14 days.
Chalets are huge and lovely. Nearest restaurant (not too good) is 15 km away so Barbie really handy.
If nearby - stay and go on WoW eco cruise. Another not to be missed excursion

We stayed here for four nights. We thought our chalet was well designed, and finished to a good standard. It was cold when we were there, and you had to sit near very the wood stove to feel the benefit. We were glad of the electric blankets! We imagine most people (especially families with children) will love the setting, with kangaroos on the paddock outside the chalets. But naturalists should not make the mistake we did, of thinking that the property is set in pristine wilderness, and that the kangaroos will have emerged at dusk from their natural habitat with other wild species. This place is actually a ranch with paddocks and rather ugly fences, the kangaroos are tame, and the immediate surroundings have been logged and are still regenerating. But the real pristine Karri-Tingle forest is not far away and this is not a bad place from which to explore its wonders.
