Three of us took an evening meal here, having stayed at the Lodge previously. Not a lot has changed in the intervening years, although English speaking staff was an improvement. Only two restaurant tables taken (mid-week March) and service was therefore attentive. Food only average, with mountains of salad being added to all dishes presumably in an effort to bulk them up. Steak OK but swordfish cooked to a mush and covered with an insipid, lukewarm sauce. Only the pleasant, sheltered surroundings made the meal worthwhile.
I don't expect a visit to Rottnest to be a gourmet dining experience but surely the 'best', or at least most pretentious, eatery on the island can do better than this.
