“Most popular, not most beautiful”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

Thompsons Bay is the main bay on Rottnest and is the most croweded. Its good for getting lunch and being around a little civilisation but the best parts of the island are a little more secluded. The Basin is great for snorkelling and the further west you go on the north or south coast the less people and the more pristine the island gets! If you want nice calm waters, be smart and find out which way the wind is coming from, if its a southerly (generally in the afternoons it will be) hit bays on the north coast and visa versa! The far west end of the island isnt much chop (too far out in the ocean and too remote!).

“First time visit, not last”
Reviewed November 12, 2013 via mobile

Had a great time with family. Fantastic weather and a great little unit. Well presented and close to town. All amenities were to a good standard and check in & out was easy.

“Far too overcrowded on a holiday weekend”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

Ok if you were there at a quiet time, but as it's the main arrivals and deparures area, it's always crowded. I prefer the quieter areas, although if you go to the eastern end of the beach to the shelter sheds it's quite nice and you may see one of the large rays that come in very close to shore and are often handfed by the fishermen.

“What a beautiful view across the Bay to Perth skyline”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

...and to sit on the balcony of your accommodation, sipping champagne, taking in the peaceful views and occasional seagull...an experience and place to live for.
