DO NOT BOOK THE COTTAGE IN SUMMER MONTHS!!!
I made the mistake of booking the cottage online for three nights and left after one, since the cottage is simply uninhabitable in summer. The cottage walls have no insulation - by 3pm it was an uncomfortable temperature, by 5pm I could not touch the inside wall with a bare hand and the air temperature was easily over 45° in the bedroom, and by 6pm we were making alternative travel plans. Very small windows so ventilation was non-existent, by midnight it was cool enough to sleep even with the 2x fans provided. By 4am the inside temperature dropped to below 20° but was on the rise again as soon as the sun rose.
I would have been far more comfortable in my tent!
When I complained the staff claimed no one else had ever had an issue - which I find very hard to believe - and refused a refund on the basis they are a family owned business and the cottage had been renovated.
This is extremely rude, since they failed to provide the service for which I had paid for in full - namely accommodation that was habitable. Their suggestion was I pay more for other on site accommodation.
On the plus side, the pool was great - but after this experience I would have preferred to come for just a day trip.More
