Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Central Greenough provides an example of colonial expansion in the mid nineteenth century. Located approximately 25 km south of Geraldton and 380 km north of Perth, the Greenough Flats form the flood plain of the river system close to the mouth of the Greenough River. Central Greenough developed as the local administrative centre, housing the churches, schools, stores, government and law enforcement offices necessary to service the surrounding farms.

Weary from a long drive, I stopped for a cuppa and scones. Service was quick and efficient, staff very pleasant and the product excellent.
The venue outside under the trees with the breeze off the ocean cooling the area, it was excellent. Add to that a few Llamas wandering in a paddock nearby and you have a lovely atmosphere

Loved visiting historical places. It brings back so many memories [and lots of things that we have only heard about cos we are not quite that old]

“Really interesting historical settlement”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2011

It's easy to pass this place by but it is really worth the effort to call in. Most of the buildings have been restored through the National Trust and there is loads of information made 'real' as it relates to named members of the community. Also an interesting audio visual presentation with stories from locals and their diaries. There are about 11 buildings to see, including the Greenough Store which not only sells delicious cakes and coffee but also some unusual gifts. Leaflet for self guided visits.
