The Exmouth Escape is the most recently built accomodation in Exmouth and is superbly kitted out. Every appliance you could wish for i.e. dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, BBQ & decent TV. Each 'villa' sleeps 6 although we were only 2 so extremely spacious for a mother & adult daughter travelling together. We each had our own bedroom & bathroom. I am generally a 'bath person' but these showers were superb. Rooms aren't serviced daily but that is fine with me - nobody moving all your stuff! The cafe is currently closed so no on site food which was a pity (lack of staff I think?). We shopped in the town IGA supermarket for breakfast provisions & ate out in the evenings. The Exmouth Escape is situated approx a 20 min walk from town & 10 minutes from the Town Beach & Marina but we didn't have a car & were happy to walk. Sharon on reception (her first week) was extremely helpful even driving in from her home at 0630 to provide a wake-up call for us as no in-room telephones & we were worried about missing the tour (Ningaloo Blue swimming with Whalesharks - excellent) we were booked on after flying in from London the previous day. The resort looks a little stark on first impression but I think us Pommies are not used to the corrugated iron style of buildings & the planting around the grounds needs to mature.

My wife and I have just spent 6 nights at the Exmouth Escape Resort and can only praise it for the fantastic chalets and the helpful, friendly staff. We had booked for 4 nights but finshed up adding an extra 2 when the volcanic ash cloud caused our flights to Perth to be cancelled. We drove back EER following the abortive tripmto the airport and Charles was amazingly helpful in re-arranging bookings so that we could keep our chalet! This morning when we checked out hoping to get standby seats on another flight he had already made allowances for us to stay on at the Resort if our quest for seats failed!!! Great service and beautifully fitted out chalets - very new! Only a ten minute walk into town and very close to Grace's Tavern which has cold beer and beaut meals. Across the road from the new Marina Development which will have lots of retail space when completed. An excellent place to stay in Exmouth!

The self contained villas are exceptionally well presented. There is a modern outdoor BBQ and al fresco area. The villa has every modern convenience one could need. There is plenty of room for 4WD and boats and the resort has a wash down area. The pool area is stunning. The restaurant is not currently open but there are plans to change this soon. The resort is at the south end of town and a good 10 minute walk to town. Charles at the front desk is quite helpful and can book tours, ect. for you.

Room Tip: Can't go wrong here

Our group of 9 adults and 2 children from Sydney had a great 5 nights at Exmouth Escape Resort in April. We had 2 adjoining 3 bedroom self catering villas. The shared bbq areas at the rear suited a large group perfectly. Also the 2 bathrooms in each villa and internal laundries were ideal. This is a new resort and the interiors are modern, stylish and functional with all the mod cons including the all-important dishwasher. Beds are very comfortable with quality linen. Beach towels are provided for the onsite pool or can be taken on day trips. Housekeeping services are offered each third day. Staff were great, especially the ever helpful Charles at the front desk. He recommended local sights and restaurants which proved good. - try Whalers for lunch or dinner. The resort is a great base from which to enjoy a reef trip to snorkel with the whale sharks - a must do! There are a number of other easily accessed snorkel beaches and gorges to explore. Don't miss watching the sunset from the lighthouse.
The only disappointment was that the onsite restaurant wasn't open. They are looking for a new operator. Hope this does happen as it would be convenient when you don't feel like going into town to eat. It is about a 20 min walk or a quick drive.

All up, Exmouth Escape and the region in general, exceeded our expectations.

My partner and I stayed in Exmouth for 11 nights in late May 2010. We'd hoped to stay in Coral Bay but the accommodation there was completely booked out by end of April - people plan well ahead for the April to June Whaleshark season! So we settled for the Deluxe Villa at Exmouth Escape Resort.
The Deluxe Villa is basically a stand-alone 3-bedroom house - completely equipped except for an oven. It was total overkill for just the two of us. It was fairly expensive as a result, but Exmouth is not a destination spoilt for choice. I found that the range of accommodation are either in the two extremes of A: backpacker style or B: wealthy tourist style. The town seemed to be in the early stages of developing into a Port Douglas style torist town - main road lined with palm trees and freshly cleared wide nature strips about to have lawn sowed - so the choice of accommodation will probably improve.
As a brand new resort, the accommodation is nice & modern. There were some quirks that might be in the process of being sorted out like: no telephone in the Villa, no guide for the television, you have to pay for Internet access - nothing too serious though.
People at reception are informative and helpful. We ate out at the on-site X-Cafe for dinners which were excellent (although a little pricy) - another quirk I forgot to mention is that the restaurant is not licensed, so take a stash of your own!
The only concern with this resort, for travellers with no vehicle is access to town. There's no problem getting to the resort from Learmonth: bus service ($20pp one way), and many dive/fishing charter tour will pick you up from your accommodation. But the walk into town is ~15 to 20 minutes, which is a bit rough if your carrying groceries or a slab of Emus.
There is not much going on around the resort (just alot of red dirt, and kangaroos) and even in Exmouth town so I highly recommend getting a vehicle if you didn't drive your own car there. We hired a Hyundai Getz for three days at Europcar a few blocks up, and drove ourselves to great places on the way to, and around Cape Range National Park.
I think we were fairly lucky with the weather during out stay - we were there for diving in the Muiron Islands, Lighthouse Bay and snorkelling with the Whalesharks with Exmouth Dive Centre. The Whaleshark day tour was cancelled due to a storm, but our itinerary was flexible enough to do it another day. It would have been a real disappointment to miss out because it turned out to be such an excellent experience.
While I would welcome more choices of accommodation in the area, I hope Exmouth and the Ningaloo Reef retains the pristine wilderness.
