“An amazing holiday”
Reviewed December 29, 2011

This was mine and my husbands first trip to South WA and we spent the Christmas period at the Bay Village Resort and Spa where we stayed in an apartment with a kitchen. The apartment was just gorgeous, very clean, tidy and modern. There are beautiful areas to sit out side and have a BBQ. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming making a great customer experience. Cannot fault the accomodation and we will definately be returing very soon.
It's location is only meters from the beautiful beach and right in the centre of Dunsborough so you have everying on your door step. Would recommend Dunborough bakery, the food there is amazing and also Yallingup coffee shop, best coffee in town!!!
We travelled around a lot during our stay and we felt that Dunsborough was the best place for a relaxing, quiet break.

Hotel room is different with an oriental inspiration. Open plan bedroom and spa bath design great for couples. Right in the middle of the town centre, very short stroll to beach, shops, restaurants and pubs. Rooms a little different to your normal hotel room which was nice. Would stay again.

We were tricked into accepting a tiny communal area and only one shower for 7 of us. We got keys for showers next door which proved this was inadequate. I asked for "better than" wotif and got 1 shower (wotif doesn't sell these) and told all sold out. Can't use dining table, couches seat 4! tiny tv, if using shower, no-one can get to toilet. Awful - hated it. Resort - I don't think so

Im not usually one to comment on these websites whether it be positive or negative, as most of the time Im pretty happy with where I have stayed and am pretty easy going person...but this place I had to comment on..

I believe that this place is very overpriced, I have stayed in many places all over the world, all along the WA coast and have a fair idea how much I should be paying for location, service, quality etc etc..!! In my opinion this "resort" is $70-$80 a night overpriced.

The rooms are SO small!!! One of the smallest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in! There is not even enough room for them to put a table and chair so you can eat your breakfast, read the paper..you know the usual nice relaxing things you would expect to be able to do whilst you are on holidays whilst staying in a "resort".

There is a water feature outside each room that runs all night! So annoying whilst you are trying to sleep, its sounds like the toilet is running, sorry management but this is not very tranquil!

If you are reading this website and trying to make up your mind to stay here or not, I wouldnt, no matter what mangement has to comment in reply to my views...

Room Tip: Small..Small..Small

I have always had my doubts about some of the reviews on here, and once again I have found negative reviews to be incorrect. I have been very happy at Bay Village (still in house) and have had no problems with anything.
Both of the nearby restautants (Bay Streetfood and Malthouse) have great food. It is a stone's throw from town too.
There is an issue with Tripadvisor where people with unrealistic expectations can bag a place, but the majority of guests dont post. This is now the third time I have ignored negative TA posts and had a good stay.
Dunsborough rooms generally are expensive compared to north qld where I live, but it simply shows that operaters here havent been as silly as we have, we have discounted to the point where money cant be made....

The style of rooms are build like cabins at caravan parks, internally better furnished but no larger and the sight is very cramped with many units squeezed on to the small block of land.

The unit we stayed in was 22 (A,B,C) had issues with, I list:

1. One of the spars did not work
2. TV's were poor picture and sound quality
3. Shower leaked all over the floor
4. Floors were dirty, to the point that we needed to wash our children's feet before bed
5. 2 of the three remotes for the Aircon did not work
6. General maintenance has not been kept up, blind's and screens had damage

We were charged for 9 occupants (6 Adults + 3 Children) in the rooms although we only had 8 people in the room (4 Adults + 4 children).

Worst thing for me was that when they were given the opportunity to put some of this right they refused to accept the issues or correct them.

Wont book or stay here again, Vpoor value

Room Tip: Only Stay here if you have no alternative.

Dear Gary

We have been in business here for some 25 plus years and pride ourselves in providing a totally honest and comprehensive portrayal of all our accommodation styles on our web site and throughout our advertising. We strive to deliver quality accommodation and good service and sell our accommodation in good faith.

We are extremely sorry that you and your friends/family found reason to complain and be dissatisfied.
Interestingly, I personally contacted the party ( 6 guests) who stayed in the very same Villa for Easter - they were absolutely delighted with their stay, the cleanliness of the villa and the resort's location.

Having now checked with all staff who were on duty during your stay, it appears that none of the perceived issues were actually reported until your departure on Thursday. This really doesn't allow us an opportunity to rectify things and your damning report on Trip Advisor we feel is both unjustified and defamatory.

The 2 remotes were both found to be working perfectly - the key was simply not inserted correctly into the key tag slot, which also probably explains the poor reception from the TV throughout the weekend. All other units were operating off the same network and there were no other complaints from any other guests. This could have been checked and corrected, had you reported this to the office during your stay.

One of the 3 spa's within your villa was found to have a problem with the pump and this was rectified in less than 10 minutes - once again, had this been reported during your stay, it would have been attended to.

The villa floors Gary were spotless when you and your family moved in. The fact that we experienced rain on and off for the 2 days of your stay and you had children running in and out would naturally create some dirty floors. The villa's as clearly stated on the web site are designed to be self catering and have both a broom and mop available.

Your criticism of the design of the villa's is personal and fortunately most guests provide fantastic feedback on the functionality and layout. Regarding the blinds, screens - I have personally checked each and every one of them and they all working perfectly. 'Roman blinds' are temperamental and if pulled quickly will sometimes not fold back or up as easily as they might!

The shower in the separate bathroom (in addition to the 3 en-suite spa's), has a 2cm lip (internal measurement) to allow wheel chair access if required. Under normal circumstances and with the drain uncovered, the water drains away as would be expected. If someone was standing in the shower for a considerable time with the water flow at maximum and perhaps standing on the drain hole, then I would imagine the shower would overflow.

According to our market research, we believe our accommodation is fairly and competitively priced. The full charge for the 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom Villa for 4 adults and 4 children is in fact $700 per night, and your party paid $600 per night. As I understand you queried what you had paid (on departure) and our receptionist checked that you had not been overcharged, and in fact you had been undercharged according to our published tariff by $100.00.

Yours sincerely
Cecily Hancock
