“A wonderful relaxing stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2014

We stayed here in a one bed cabin and were impressed with the wonderful facilities and staff. The first morning when we woke up the electric fry-pan that is provided in our room tripped the rcd switch and wouldn't work. I took the fry-pan to reception thinking to myself that i couldn't really see how they were going to fix it and that we may have to go use the public bbq's; to my surprise the staff had a brand new fry-pan still in its box that they gave to me which worked perfectly. The site was nice and quiet in the mornings which was also wonderful. We will definitely be coming back to stay.

We recently stayed in a brand new superior 2 bedroom cabin for 3 nights. Views over Indian Ocean fantastic but very windy so couldn't spend as much time sitting on outdoor deck as we would have liked to. Cabin itself modern, comfortable and spotless. Sleeps 6 but it would be quite tight with this many people. No views over ocean if sitting inside the cabin as Living room window too narrow and high. The beach in front of the cabin is unusable due to build up of seaweed which is not getting cleared or washed away naturally and is rotting. Due to this there are pools of stagnant smelly water which is quite putrid. There are signs saying it is natural and good for environment however I still think as part of a tourist destination the seaweed should be cleared. Nearby south beach is good for kite surfing or driving along in car but not particularly family friendly. The tourist park is nice however no children's facilities I.e no playground. Due to lack of beach a swimming pool would also be good. We stayed over a weekend when there were numerous groups partying both Friday and Saturday nights. We awoke on Saturday morning to find smashed wine and beer bottles and cigarette packs outside our cabin and were kept awake from 1am - 3am on Saturday night due to loud partying. This was not good with a toddler in tow. We also experienced 2 power cuts, one of which lasted approx 12 hours. Overall, accommodation itself was good but the tourist park and it's location are not being leveraged for people looking for a family holiday and more suitable for travellers passing through en route to next destination. Highlight of our trip was the food at the Dongara Hotel - huge portions and better than any meal I've had in Perth over the last year. Had to drive though as not within walking distance. Also eat at the Dongara bakery and starfish cafe at south beach which were both very average.

This is the second time we have stayed on an unpowered camp site. Both times we experienced very hot weather but the area is well grassed as there is sufficient shade. Yes, the seaweed smells but that is not the owners problem. The very high tides probably were to blame. The amenities are clean and tidy. Can't agree with flutterby59 about the power use as we had the site alongside the tent on the unpowered site that plugged their electrical cord, with light attached, into the power outlet. The cord was dangled across the busy pathway to the beach and was there Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, until the cord was pulled out. The owner was quite within his rights to pull the cord which was a trip hazard in the dark as well as using power not paid for. Will come again as Denison is a lovely place to visit and this park is close to all town amenities and the lovely south bay.

We have just spent the Labour Day Long weekend here with a group of 12.
1.The lack of bin facilities was concerning as we had to go searching for rubbish bins to dispose of food scraps and in 38 degree heat rubbish needs to be
disposed of

2.The stench from the rotting seaweed on the beach was disgusting. The smell went throughout the caravan and was very unpleasant.

3.The ablution blocks need a good clean..there is mould and dirt in the showers.

4.Charging an extra 22 dollars for a four year old for two days seems to be money greedy.

5.The caretakers partner is extremely rude and arrogant...our daughter had booked an unpowered tent site. Her phone was going flat and she needed to charge it to keep in contact with her partner who was sick.
We were at the beach so she plugged into our power source. The caretaker came through and pulled out the cord without even asking why it was there. He was very rude when we approached him about what he had done.We were in the wrong however there are correct ways to deal with the issue and he was very rude.

bbss, Manager at Dongara Tourist Park, responded to this review, March 4, 2014
There were three bins within easy reach of the site all weekend and they were emptied daily. The guests in that area were asked about the bins and they said without exception that there was ample space in the bins.
In regards to the ablutions, we take great pride in the presentation of our park and our ablutions are clean.
The seaweed does smell at certain times of the year. We have spoken to the Department of Environmental Protection and they have advised us that the seaweed is essential for the ongoing protection and growth of the seagrass beds that characterise the coast and it is these beds that act as the nursery for the crayfish. So we are not permitted to remove the seaweed.
The power chord was unplugged three times which we hoped would be a gentle reminder that these guests had not paid for a powered site. I think we were very tolerant and gave the guests every opportunity to rectify the situation, each time the power chord unplugged the guests replaced it. The chord was laid across a busy walkway to the beach and so was also a danger to our other guests. When removed the fourth time the guests became very rude and aggressive. I think this review is a continuation of there initial response to the situation.
I think the other review says it all.
We will take a deep breath and continue to try and provide the very best services and amenities we can to our guests now and into the future.

This Tourist park was lovely. the ammenities were top notch, the grounds manicured and well cared for. Close to the beach, or a short stroll down to the marina.
And for the children, or the young at heart there's a Giant jumping pillow. Definitely fun

Room Tip: We had a nice shady unpowered site. Lovely

We spent a couple of days here. I spent some time here int eh last 70's and it was good to see it wasn't too spoilt over time. The sites were concrete with grass on the side. Facilities were good and clean
