Chimes Spa Retreat

We were looking at finding a retreat in the country to celebrate our one year anniversary, after viewing the website we decided chimes is where we want to stay. I contacted the retreat, the owner answering the phone and I can say with experience in customer service that he attended to every one of my needs and within minutes of booking I had an email verifying!

It is located only a 3 minute drive from the town centre and accessibility to restaurants was not a problem with a review book in their games room.

We arrived early and they were at our service, allowing us to check in early and get settled in.

The room was beautiful with a lovely spa overlooking the garden and a neat and well presented room. It was lovely.

DVDs and videos along with boardgames and books were available with no charge or strings attached.

Every morning breakfast was available and we were greeted with a friendly hello.
Each evening port was left in the lobby for the residents to share.

It is a small retreat which makes it personal and cosy and it was a lovely way to spend our one year anniversary.

Chimes made it a very personal experience and very comfortable and i will definitely be returning!

Thanks Chimes for making our special weekend a real memory.

Charming Band B for those that want peace and isolation in Western Australia's south west. It comes as advertised and guests are well looked after by the proprietor and his staff. Breakfasts are a pleasure. Whilst we did not use the spa, we read many excellent reviews from those who had.
Chimes does not serve dinner but recommends some of the local establishments and we found two of the recommendations excellent -- 6333 and Greenpool -- both are well worth trying.
A wonderful place for a a quiet stop over...

Taken that the guy who owns the place, runs the place; you know your not going to walk on in and find some teenager behind the desk that cares more about his pay check than you. Chimes should be an example for hotels that just can't seem to work out what good customer service and attention to detail is all about. On check in you are greeted with a personal guided tour of the resort, showing you everything from the delectable breakfast menu to the port that is put out each night for guests to enjoy.

This is a place for a quiet, romantic, personal getaway. The place just oozes romance, I certainly wouldn't go with my mates unless I wanted to be called a "big girl" for the rest of my life.

Chimes also offers couple spa treatments that certainly add brownie points with your loved one. The spa treatment for my partner and I included an hour long massage, which i'll admit wasn't the best massage of my life, but I had soon forgot about it after the private lunch in the spa with my partner.

It is worth noting that I booked an 'ocean view' room and this is visable from both the private balcony and from the spa in your room. The view is simply spectacular and waking up to it every morning just made the day. I did venture around the building to check out what was, from the other rooms a 'hill view' and lets just say I am glad I had the ocean view.

The prices are high end for Denmark, but I will tell you that I am still reaping the benefits from treating my partner to short break at Chimes.

Its fine - especially considering what other options are currently available elsewhere for travellers looking for something really special. But, dont be fooled by the website / blurb - this is absolutely not a 4 or 5* hotel.

Very nice rooms (B&B style again - even the "spa" suites) with undeniably fabulous views.

Spa comprises of one room. My wife & I had a great massage in that one room - but one room is all it is.

Worth a stop to explore the amazing environment & surroundings but take the website with a pinch of salt.

They put a note in our room saying to contact reception if we wanted to buy the hotel which was funny - if slightl,y inappropriate!

We stayed at Chimes after it was recommended by a travel agent based in Perth. It was sold to us as an adult retreat, which it is. I believe they only have 10 rooms all designed for couples in mind. We were made to feel really welcome with a roaring log fire in reception and a bottle of Port left out each evening for when we returned after having dinner. Chimes does not have it's own restaurant but there is one on the resort which offers great food, local wines and fabulous views. However, Chimes does serve breakfast, cooked to order by your hosts. Our room had an amazing view down to the ocean,It was open plan with a sunken bath and walk in shower, the loo however was behind a door and gave privacy. Each day we returned, not only were we welcomed home by the resident dogs but the teddy in our room had been moved, the teddy also had a note book which you could leave messages for the staff or the next guests. Chimes was full of personal touches and if I could afford it I would have brought the place myself.
Chimes is Boutique and unique.

Paid the not insubstantial amount of $AUD300 to stay in a "room for a few" advertised as being able to take up to 5 people at the Chimes spa retreat. Arrived at 6.15pm to find that the reception had closed and our room key was left in an envelope on the counter. We are a married couple and were hosting a male friend and were very surprised to find that the second bedroom was accessed via the first. Therefore no-one had any privacy. This was not clear on the website - or anywhere else for that matter. The "hotel" is on a holiday park some way out of the quiet town of Denmark - facilities are very limited. For example there is only one mid-range restaurant on site and any others are a 15 minute drive away. I complained regarding the misdescription and the owner was pretty churlish. In the room information, the owner had even mentioned the place was for sale to fund his "new project" - says it all really. Slick marketing, no substance and poor customer service.

We believe our website provides both accurate and honest information. Some confusion exists with the RAC rating system which may lead to unrealistic expectations. We are NOT a hotel. We are rated 4.5 stars by the RAC in the Guesthouse/B&B category. We offer a bed and breakfast service and present ourselves as a lodge or retreat.
Our day spa has five rooms but designed in a way that ensures privacy and intimacy.
We have advised our guests that our property is listed for sale as we wanted to re-assure them that whilst we wait for a change of ownership our level of service and attention to detail would remain unchanged.
