The rooms are over priced & the service is crap. The meals are a reasonable size & price but if you are staying over night stay at the queen of the Merchinson B&B hotel. The night life is non existent , you get thrown out of the pub at 9:30pm on a Saturday night so if you can pass this pathetic town by do so, do not stay in this town if possible.

Stayed for 1 night, in May 2013. There isn't much choice in Cue, particularly if you prefer ensuite. Our motel room, out the back of the sprawling old pub building, was fairly expensive at just over $150 for a night, for 2 of us, but we really didn't have a choice. The proprietor was pleasant, and our room fairly large and comfortable. It lacked any kind of reading light for the bed, which was a bit of a nuisance, but at least had a flatscreen TV high up on the wall. Had a table and a couple of chairs, some cupboards, bar fridge etc and bathroom. Decor was last refreshed some time in the 80's I would guess. We had a reasonable meal in the dining room of the attached pub (there aren't any/many other choices in town), which was mainly frequented by miners in their hi-viz vests and workboots. The old pub is interesting, with vast public rooms and very high ceilings, and our meals (lamb shank on mash, and curry something) were OK all things considered. Unfortunately when we retired for the night we found no running hot water. Not wanting to disturb anyone then we had a reasonably comfortable night's sleep, and helped ourself to the continental breakfast in the huge and antiquated breakfast room in the old pub. Good selection of cereals, bread for toast etc, and tea/coffee. Unfortunately there was still no hot water in our unit, and we had had cold showers again that morning . Not long before we left a repairman came around and enquired whether we had had any hot water, as he realised there may have been a fault with the tank. My tip, check whether you have hot water before its too late/too early to do anything about it - although our experience was probably only a one-off.

Stayed for one night in July 2012. Turned up and they had us booked in for the previous night, however, they went out of their way and gave us a cabin outside.
It was perfect, clean and we got a good night sleep. In the actual hotel, the staff were very helpful and nice and the breakfast room was so quaint, with all the period features. Would look fantastic if they restored it to its 1800 look.
Would highly recommend and definitely stay here again when driving from the Pilbara to Perth.
Cue is a cute old historical settlement and was very quiet.

Room Tip: I didn't stay in the main Hotel but the cabins were great.

Everything is relative and accommodation in the country in WA is expensive and usually pretty disappointing. Between Dalwallinu and Newman this the best place to stay and we've stayed several times. It's a reasonable distance from Perth (just over 600km) so when heading north it's a good start and not too far.
The rooms are basic but clean. The service is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included. You can also get a decent pub meal at night and it's not too pricey. Cue is a fascinating, though slowly disintegrating, old, gold-mining town of fading grandeur and the hotel is in the middle of it. At night, the pub has several log fires in winter. In summer, this area is not a good place to be. The rooms are motel style next to the pub.

I was coming back from 2 weeks of work in the Pilbara and my company booked us there for the night. Usually that means staying in a runned down hole and scrambling for some food straight out of the freezer and straight in the deep fryer! Not here, the food was cooked to perfection from fresh ingredients (I had the herty Ceasar salad, cheaper than most places in Perth 10 times fresher!) and felt like a home meal.

The entire place (pub, rooms, restaurant, beer garden it's a decent sized establishment) was completly refurbished by the new owners who set out to make it the nicest place in the mid-west and they will succeed. Pub ambiance existed despite almost no one being there. Real credit to the owners they are working hard to make it a great place. It would be suitable for big bashes and wedding too.

Rooms were nice and comfy. The air con worked and did not make much noise. I find it hard to say more but all I can say is I slept well so...

I've slept in many roadhouses, pubs, "hotels", with work and this had the most charm, character and soul. Very refreshing. Ignore the first two comments, the hotel has changed hands since and it is in good hands. This is a good example of what needs to be done all over WA instead of all these old runned down places that are just money spinners.

PS I don't work nor am I associated. I just got out of my way and took time to write down and support a place that makes a difference and welcomed me to a high quality standard as a tired traveller it was more than I ever had all over WA.

Room Tip: they have room upstairs over the pub and doubles in a side building like a motel, I had this one and...

When it gets dark you dont have lots of choices in the outback. Keep driving and you may find wildlife on the road big ones called cows. Choices become very limited Stayed in a unit out the back of the hotel. Room clean but fraying at the edges. All western Australia accommodation seemsto get like this. Anyway an entertaining local family nearby reminds you where you are. But no problems. Hotel has a decent bar and a restaurant area. The food was superb and the beer cold. Very much a surprise and would recommend the food on it's own. Cue is like most WA small towns dependent on travellers and miners. Have a walkabout interesting buildings and history to read. Will stop in again on my next passing through.

This place although a dreary look at country life was great, myself and 3 workmates stayed here for a few nights and loved it, The place doesnt look like much, and the bar staff had their moments but boy was the food great, A young chef from eastern europe somewhere, think his name was Christophe was great really looked after us, his Club burger best burger ive had over this side of the country in a long time and damn was it big, Honey Mustard lamb was to die for and his Citrus Snapper wholly crap it was like an orgasm in your mouth, this guy is way to good to be working at such a place!!!!!
Motel rooms were great, Manager was fairly Abrupt but she was a South African in the middle of Country WA, makes you think...all round it was a great stay topped of by 3 amazing days of mouthwatering food!!

Cheers Chef
