It's pretty hard to think of something new to say on here when you look at all the other reviews for Jalbrook, basically everything they said and more. You could not find a better place to go and get away from it all and give yourself a damn good break. Jan and Alan are the heart and soul of what is without doubt one of our most favorite places to stay, they should be the 'pinup people' for customer service everywhere. Getting up and finding the newspaper on your doorstep each morning and then being able to lay back and read it from cover to cover is just sooooooo good, and the pizza night is fab, do not miss out on trying the DBM pizza. Thanks so much Jan and Alan, you've saved us again, see you soon.

The perfect blend of being able to hideaway in your cottage and let the stress of the daily grind wash off in the fantastic spa pavilion and then, if you are lucky, getting to mingle with Alan and Jan along with the other guests at one of their famous pizza nights. My wife and I are just starting to rediscover the ability to spend some time to ourselves after having two children and Jalbrook is just the best place for us to do this, we will be going back again and again.

We have been staying at Jalbrook for ten years. Each year we come down to walk the beautiful Bibbulmun track. Alan drops us at Southhampton Bridge and we walk the 25kms back to Jalbrook, a very special place to stay. Jan and Alan are a terrific couple who have thought of everything in the design of the cottages and all the treats, the fire is burning when you arrive, the bread, still warm from the oven and yes, we love the newspaper on the doorstep in the morning. Jan now sells alpaca wool garments from her shop on the property, it is lovely to watch the pretty alpacas enjoying life at Jalbrook! There are even a a couple of bikes you can borrow, another way of seeing the surrounding countryside of beautiful Balingup. Thanks Jan and Alan for our wonderful weekends over the years.

We have been coming to stay at Jalbrook cottages for 3 years now and we will never go anywhere else - it has everything and the attention to details is what makes it so special. Jalbrook is the most relaxing and romantic place. Amazing outdoor private hot tub with fluffy bathrobes and plenty of towels, fresh baked bread on arrival and newspapers on your doorstep daily. I'm a stickler for a clean house and bathroom and its cleaner than my own home. Alan & Jan have created my most favorite getaway ever - thank you so much. I'm sad to have to share it.

I stayed here in February 2012, at which point there wasn't any tripadvisor reviews and there was NO CHANCE I was putting one up as we wanted to keep this place to ourselves! And bear in mind that we are the type of people who rarely go back to the same place twice!

But enough people have reviewed it now that I think the secret is out, so I might as well join in.

Living in Perth for 5 years now, we've travelled the length and breadth of Western Australia and this is easily in the top 2 places we've stayed here (the other IS remaining a secret!!!). There is a long, long, long gap between these 2 and the rest!

The place is so relaxing, so romantic, the outdoor spa is huge and an absolute delight.

I'd hate to think what this place would cost if it were in Margaret River! At least double.

For international visitors on holiday in Western Australia, would I recommend a stay here? Hmmm...that's tough. Depends what kind of holiday makers you are, because whilst the Balingup area is pleasant countryside with the odd attraction dotted around I don't think anyone would pretend that (this cottage aside) it is on the "must-do" list for Western Australia.

Maybe, though, it is worth a couple of relaxing nights here to break the journey to or from the Southern Forests/Walpole/South Coast etc? Or else if you were going to visit Pemberton you could stay here and visit Pemberton on a day trip (about an hour each way).
