“Well positioned, reasonable priced hotel ok for short stay”
Reviewed December 30, 2012 via mobile

My fiancé and I stayed here for 2 nights while we explored the area and went whale watching. Certainly a makeover and a bit of an update is needed, but for us we just wanted a clean bed to come home to at night, so our room was fine (basic, but as we expected r the price).
We were mressed ith the meals in the Hotel - well priced, generous and with healthy options.

Myself, my fiancée and his parents stayed here in a 'family' room for $165 a night and were honestly appalled at numerous things and the cost of a room with all of the faults it had - if it was cheap we would not if cared but for the price - terrible and totally unacceptable! I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and this was by far the worst!

Firstly the room was one large room with a cupboard in between therefore making it '2' rooms - no doors or no privacy for either room. Next..there was NO AIRCON!! I have never in my life stayed at a hotel/motel with no aircon! It was a 40 degree day/hot night and none if us got any sleep whatsoever. The beds were terrible, soft and I woke up with a sore back and the pillows were flat and lumpy. The bathroom was old and dingy but functional so for one night we didn't care. In my opinion the worst thing by far was the filthy water jug SUPPLIED by them in their mini fridge..it had brown mud like gunk in the bottom..you except your guests to drink that water?? It's a health hazard! I cleaned it out with a hand towel and left a note for housekeeping showing them the towel and advising it was from their jug so hopefully something is done about it - it was just wrong!!
Plus - The food at the hotel across the road was great and they were packed to the hilt run of their feet busy. Will def go back for a meal, all 4 of us enjoyed ours.
All in all, DO NOT stay in summer, do not drink the water in the jugs and do not expect good quality for the price you pay and you'll be fine!

We recently stayed there for one night and this was not an experience to remember. The condition of the room was not well maintained and the bathroom was in poor condition including the shower head which was filthy dirty.
No Wi Fi was available in the room or in the restaurant where we had dinner. No breakfast service as in many motels but a great place across the road called the Deckchair Gourmet.

Called in here for lunch, girl behind the counter served us at though she didnt want to work there, very sour and not really helpful. We still ordered anyway, went outside to eat on the grassed area, the view amazing, river meets ocean. My meal of salt and pepper squid was beautiful, loved it. Hubby had a steak burger but left half. He didnt really enjoy it. Chips were good though.
It was quiet and very country. Lovely location.

We stayed at the Seine Bay Apartments and popped across the road for a drink and dinner. It was so nice to walk into the country pub atmosphere and warm up by the cosy log fire. Dinner was delicious and generous, we had Salt and Pepper Squid - yum yum. One 'highlight' of dinner was watching a big yellow moon rise over the bay from our table by the window.
We came back on Friday night for a few drinks by the fire, the pub was very lively with families, tourists, locals and a Carton/Collingwood football match on the big screen at one end of the lounge.
A happy place to be for dinner and drinks on a chilly July night.

This is my second visit to the Augusta Hotel. Meals at this hotel are really good, much better than what you'd expect from a 'pub'. The servings are generous, the service is friendly and prompt and there is a terrific country atmosphere with log fire, lounge suite, pool tables, plasma TVs showing all the sport and to top it all off, incredible views of the Blackwood River and Flinders Bay. This time, I dined with 15 uni friends, all of us on our winter holiday break. Will definitely come back for another pub meal next time we're in Augusta. Lots of choice on the menu and I'd definitely recommend the seafood dishes!!
