“a great place to slowdown and enjoy nature”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2014

Stayed here with a few friends and had a really good and relaxed time. The chalets are off the main road in Augusta but not too far from the town. The chalets are self sufficient and has a nice kitchenette. each chalet has avfew rooms with ajoining showers. I particularly loved the sunrise and sunset. There is a supermarket a short drive away and the Augusta bakery is a nice place to have a meal or drink a cup of tea. The Blackwood river is nearby and the colour patch boat ramp is a nice place to have a picnic or take a stroll. The pace in Augusta is nice and slow and hence a good place to chill.

The girls and I Spent 2 days there in May and Loved it.
A Lovely fire for when the sun went down.
Everything you need and close to town if you dont feel like cooking.
Pack the Mozzie spray as you are near a lake. :-)

A big surprise here.
The chalets this year are 21 years old, we don`t get reports from our guests stating that we have a "mosquito problem and don`t forget the mosi spray".
In fact only 2 years ago we put fly doors to the entrance doorway on the chalets.
On my own house beside the chalets we have no fly doors whatsoever.
Furthermore the suggestion of being beside a lake is wrong , the only lake I know of is 4ks away.
Reports like this just cost us guests, and this is so unfair.

Went to Augusta for my birthday this year and had an amazing stay at Sheoak Chalets. It was quiet and you are surrounded with greenery. Also got the chance to spot a group of kangaroos hopping around. Had a chance to stargaze as well. The facilities were large enough for our group and the owner let us stay a bit longer during our check out day which was awesome didnt have to panic packing too much :) and they are always there to help. :)

We enjoyed our stay in a picture perfect hillside setting. Wale watching, walks in proximate national park. Being used to a sound waste separation system we apply at home we were somewhat disappointed all of our collected organic waste was destined for the local landfill site.
It would have been great if the business adopted a good waste separation philosophy and introduce composting and permaculture techniques being so close to a national park.

Why this report was written truly amazed me.
I am a full time scrap metal dealer and are fully conscious of recycling.
We provide a very visible and signposted enclosure near the chalets where our guests are meant to drop all cans bottles and plastics, we then take these to recyclers where they are disposed of properly.

Thanks Steve,
had a great stay, loved the chalets so warm and cosy. Will definitely be back soon to bring the family. Thanks for showing me around, beautiful views and so peaceful, very relaxing. Off to the jetty to catch some whiting - thanks for the fishing tips.

Room Tip: stayed in chalet 3, lovely and quiet and beautiful views

Thanks Steve, what a great reception! Arrived late on Sunday night to be welcomed by Steve and his lovely wife Anita, Steve made sure we had everything we needed right down to lighting the fire. Thoroughly recommend for any getaway large group or just 2.

Pro. Spacious, nice view. Ok ish considering that it is Augusta. Perhaps would be ok for a longer stay in summer.
Con. small old hard beds. Bathroom from the 70's. Wet wood and no kindling for fire in winter. Log burner broken. Woman at reception didnt speak English and the guy running the place seemed disorganised and gruff. Poor value.
