Description: The Restaurant at Tregarthen's Hotel has one of the best reputations of all restaurants on the Isles of Scilly. As you dine you can gaze out to sea, enjoying spectacular views across St Mary's Harbour to St Martin's and the Round Island Light House. All dishes are home made on the premises, using fresh local produce wherever possible. With our setting right at the ocean's edge, it is no surprise that sea food is a speciality, including fresh crab caught that day in the clear waters close by the hotel. Our seasonal menus offer daily specials and mouth watering dishes every day.

We had a wonderful evening, the staff were very friendly & they looked after us very well. We had a beautiful view of the harbour in front of us & the sunset in a side window, very romantic for our special occasion, a nice glass or two of the french merlot!
All of the food we chose was of a very high standard, in taste & presentation, my scallops in particular were amazing, we felt very spoilt. We enjoyed a coffee in the lounge afterwards..... the perfect end to a lovely meal!

Started off with two great starters of pigeon and scallops , had beautifully cooked sea bass as main and finished it off with baked cheesecake. Nice service, great views, short waiting times would recommend it to anyone.

It was an impromptu visit for a quick and hopefully refreshing cup of tea. My wife went for the Cream Tea and was not dissapointed, probably one of the best on our visit to the Isles. Service was satisfactory but not outstanding. Decor was a bit tired in the reception/bar area we were sitting in and the view from the window was partially obscured by a large deposit from a Sea Bird. So overall it was OK but I wouldn't rush back in a hurry.

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience at Tregarthen's Hotel. We are delighted to hear that our homemade scones were that best you have had!

We strive to improve the hotel and it's facilities, an on-going project as I am sure you will understand. We make improvements constantly, though being by the sea are unable to control the sea birds.

I hope that you will return to the islands again in the future to enjoy the best cream tea on the islands again and are able to appreciate the perfect placement we have and the improvements we have made since your last visit.

Kind regards

We did not stay at the hotel but ate in the restaurant one evening during our stay on St Mary's. We called in on the off chance during the day to enquire about evening meals. Often non residents are not made to feel welcome at a hotel but this was certainly not the case hear.

We have two children (aged 7 and 3) so had a nice surprise when we were told that they would also be very welcome. There was an extensive children's menu. There is a set menu for children costing (from memory) £8.50. For this they received a drink, starter, main and pudding. The only slight downside was that we had to order the children's food in advance but this was understandable and not a problem.

When we arrived at our table that evening we found two goody bags for the children with things for them to do (colouring, stickers, word search, dot to dot etc) which were perfect for keeping them happy whilst my wife and I enjoyed our meal.

I am very surprised to read JPJREVIEW's review of the food - ours was first rate and the service was faultless - if anything slightly over attentive at times. We also enjoyed a very reasonably priced bottle of white wine.

This was an excellent choice of restaurant for all the family and we will certainly return.

This is a very nice hotel and a fab location, but with burnt food and poor level of service i can only award this 4 star hotel a 1/10. After visiting for the past 20 years, I was very disappointed with this top hotel as it was always one of the best hotels on the isles..... Quality needs to change.....
