We stayed in the Garden Suite in this hotel with a view of the harbour. The room was very nice but we wish we had been able to stay in the old castle as it had so much character. Maybe next time! The food was excellent with a huge amount of choice. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive. Eveyrbody made us feel very comfortable and welcome.

4th year running at the star castle for the bank holiday weekend, the food ( and views) are the hotels's best asset and plenty of walking helps releive the intake of copious amounts of calories!!!
Sarah is a delight and will do whatever she can to help make your holiday smooth and enjoyable.
Highly recommend although maybe not for the elderley as the walk up to the castle is steep.
Tom the boat man is excellent, advises well on your trips, Tresco is a must.
Will know doubt be back again next year

The Star Castle certainly has a lot of potential. The actual hotel is fantastically situated and in theory should be a great destination.

We were a little disappointed with the service however. We had to wait 2 hours for our room, with no updates as to what was happening, so we sat in the lounge for the entire time- a bit of a waste of a day. When we did get to the room, our bags were misplaced and we had to call down for some robes, which we noticed other guests had- they took another hour to arrive.

Thee is no option for breakfast to be delivered to the room, which is a shame when you are on honeymoon!

Also the dinners were of an excellent standard, but after 4 days, it started to get a bit samey- there are only so many variations of mushroom risotto you can take.

All in all a great hotel, let down by the little details, which for the money is worth pointing out.

My mum took me here for two nights as a birthday surprise. We had two of the three Guard rooms, in the corners of the castle walls, and were delighted with them! Very cosy with sea views from the little old windows.

Food was lovely, but the vegetarian option from the castle restaurant seems to go to the conservatory restaurant the next day, so that reduces your options if you don't want the same thing again.

We had a 4 night break in May travelling by Helicopter from Penzance - which was an experience not to be missed. We were met on time by the hotel transport which was a lovely start to the holiday.
We stayed in a wonderful room in the Hotel with sea views, obviously very old but well modernised and so lovely and quiet - no banging water pipes and no sound from other residents.
The staff were all very friendly and efficient and fancy having your own Boatman - Tim to arrange your Boat Trips for you - Tresco Gardens are not to be missed.
Where do I start with the food - stay here for the food if nothing else - absolutely fantastic - Breakfast and Dinner we ate in the restaurant at the castle which was such a treat - the best food I have ever eaten - no awful piped music either - bliss.
We would certainly come back here - the sooner the better

We took advantage of a very keenly priced offer, basically a third off the usual prices. We have stayed here before and so we knew that the location was excellent.

This trip proved to be a repeat of the last visit. The rooms are immaculate, the beds comfortable, the setting as good as anything in the Caribbean. The reception staff, bar man and cleaning staff are all very helpful and courteous.

Dinner is 5 courses, if you want all of them, and there are two dining rooms, the Conservatory which is fish orientated, and the Castle which if meat focussed. Breakfast is served in both restaurants.

The food is outstanding. Original without being clever.

Service in the restaurants varied hugely. On our first night we waited ages for any service and then the wrong food was brought. Second night service was as good as any I have had anywhere.

The manager will not leave you alone at breakfast and after 2 days it really gets to you.

We booked a 3 night break at the Star Castle and were promptly collected from the airport on arrival. We had booked a room in the Castle and had lovely views out to sea looking over to Tresco. The hotel has 2 restaurants, the Castle Restaurant and the Conservatory Restaurant, the menus for each restaurant are available the evening before enabling you to select which restaurant you would like to dine in. The food was fabulous with an excellent range of selections.

The hotel staff were especially helpful organising trips for us and nothing was too much trouble. The Scilly Isles were especially beautiful and the Star Castle is an ideal place to base yourself to see all the islands. If you want a first class stay - this is the only place to be.
