lovely, small, very elegant place far away from the "action" of capri (thank god) and also from the considerably smaller town of anacapri. take the bus (hold on!) into capri for the jazz of euro-chic but return to the comfort of OM. they couldn't have been more helpful, have their own pickup van from the ferry (which was a godsend) and can arrange for you to get transportation to the various restaurants on their side of the island. its just a beautiful spot overlooking the water and the italian coast. i think i would probably go bonkers if i stayed on the island for a week but the visuals are astounding and the ambiance magnificent.

We stayed in 5 hotels before this, all in different parts of Italy, all on a budget. We decided because this was our last destination and it was Capri to splurge a little. I searched for a long time to find something that was incredible but still reasonable. We had already decided to rent moped so location was not an issue. When we arrived in Capri it was quite late and their shuttle service was not running so we had to take a very expensive taxi, not ideal, but not a huge deal. Just make sure to come a t a decent hour to take advantage of the free shuttle. We pulled up and just saw bliss. It was a garden oasis, amazing landscaping. We got all checked in at the sleek trendy reception. Then we were brought to our incredible room. We had the only room with out a view from our terrace but that's what we paid for. The room was trendy and well decorated. It had a flat screen Tv, mini bar, closet space, a electronic shade on the windows so from a push of a button you can keep your room pitch black all night and morning and just put it up when you get up, and all the bells and whistles. What was really amazing was the bathroom. It had a very large shower with two shower heads and tiling. It was very nicely decorated and a real treat. The rooms were incredibly clean. After so much traveling all we wanted to do was relax, and Orsa was the perfect place to do that. With it's over flowing pool, pool-side bar and lunch, solarium, cozy sitting areas, and plush gardens, it was hard not to relax. They helped us very much and were there to lend a hand with anything we needed. They had a complimentary car service on hand to shuttle us where every we needed to go. They recommended amazing trendy restaurants, make sure you make a reservation even if they tell you you don't have to because we made that mistake and ended up eating at a terrible restaurant. It was truly an incredible experience staying with them. The location is ideal if you want to do some serious relaxing. It may not be directly in Capri but the shuttle will bring you there. Also, it was right on the road to the Blue Grotto which you can be brought to also. Incase the shuttle isn't always around you should rent mopeds like we did. The roads are scary but it was worth it since the hotel is quite far from the main attractions.
We enjoyed this hotel very much, it was a true island oasis. It is worth the money.

I stayed for 2 nights at the Orsa Maggiore Hotel in Anacapri with my husband. We also had my parents with us and upon arrival the staff upgraded us to two rooms with a beautiful garden and patio! The hotel is BREATHTAKING!! It's one of the most gorgeous hotels I've ever stayed in, and definitely the best out of all the European hotels I've ever stayed in. However, with that said, the location is pretty far from any action -- this is a perfect spot for honeymooners who maybe want to spend a lot of time in the hotel and take advantage of its gorgeous amenities (the pool is just heavenly!).. .but if you want to see Capri town or Anacapri town or do some shopping or sightseeing, it really is a pain to get around. After reading the reviews online about the free shuttle service, I was really disappointed that the driver would drop us off somewhere but not be available for picking us up -- since the hotel does not serve dinner (so you are forced to go out at night to find something to eat), the driver would drop us off but then tell us that he is off-duty in a few minutes so we had to pay a taxi to take us back which is very pricey. Also on the morning we were leaving, the driver would not come in a few mins early to take us to the port so we had to spend another 45 euro just getting back to the port. So yeah we wasted a lot of money on taxi's - i suppose you can try walking it but it's a VERY far walk and the streets are very very narrow and anyone who has been to Italy knows Italian driving is fearless haha so we didn't feel safe walking around at night with those crazy drivers. :) I am taking away one star on this review but only because of the lack of shuttle service and distance, but the hotel is truly breathtaking. I just wish they served dinner because I could have stayed right there all day and night and relaxed. Oh another reason I took off a star is because their breakfast wasn't that of a 4 or 5 star hotel -- one morning my parents asked if they can have eggs and even though they made it for them, they also charged their room a whopping 8 euro EACH for ONE egg... seemed a bit tacky for a 5 star hotel. Otherwise though, the hotel and rooms are gorgeous!

This was our eighth family trip to Capri. We've stayed everywhere from Capri town to AnaCapri and this was really one of our most excellent adventures! Since we are a family of four, our rooms were side by side with a connecting hallway that had a sliding door for privacy from the rest of the hotel and then each room had a door. We had a perfect view of the Med and each room had a wonderful patio with a garden where the children could run. Our first evening we sat poolside enjoying fresh bellini's and watching the dramatic sunset. Salvatore, the barman, even brought out a tray of fresh olives, peanuts, and crackers. We could have stayed in that fantastic setting forever, but it was time for dinner and the hotel provides a free shuttle to wherever one needs to go on the island!! The breakfasts were superb and once again, Salvatore, was there to prepare yummy cappuccino's and even managed to write "Happy Birthday" in chocolate syrup on my son's hot chocolate!! The staff were really amazing and they were even able to reserve a boat for an island tour and recommend a fantastic lunch place along the tour! Afterward, we simply called the hotel driver and were back in our beautiful, boutique hotel! Great place!
