Caesar Augustus Hotel
Ranked #1 of 18 Hotels in Anacapri
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed June 11, 2014

The Hotel Caesar Augustus is one of the great resort hotels in the world. Perched 1000 ft up on the cliff of Anacapri, the hotel is magical on a grand scale. The cliff sea view room (#118) was worth every penny at 980Eu/nite. It has magnificent furnishings and a big terrace, with incredible views of the blue sea, Ischia, Naples, Vesuvius, the Sorrentine Peninsula, and Capri harbor. The June weather was perfect, the sunsets magnificent and, at night, the lights of the mainland from Naples all the way to Amalfi surround you in a 180 degree arc, with the blackness of Vesuvius lurking behind.

The heated two-tier infinity pool is gorgeous (like no other I have ever seen) and the grounds are spectacular (from the many terraces with lounges to the vegetable gardens to the path along the cliff). The steam room, around a secluded corner just below the pool, has a window that overlooks the garden and the sea! Augustus himself did not have it so good. There are so many public terraces and secluded spots throughout the property that it would take a week to enjoy them all.

It is a very short walk to Anacapri, which (unlike the town of Capri) is uncrowded with good local shopping and cafes at prices that are fair. The drive down to the town of Capri (and back up) in one of the topless taxis is a switchbacked joy ride. The town of Capri itself is mostly the Via Condotti in an overcrowded medieval town, though once you get out of the main shopping streets, it has beauty and charm.

The restaurant at the hotel has great food, good service and a great wine list (with great wine at fair prices), and yet more incredible views. The outside tables perched over the cliff look inviting (and are), but on a breezy June night we were happy to be on the restaurant sde of the glass.

Stay at least two nights with someone you love.

Room Tip: Spring for the Cliff Sea View, but any sea view room will be spectacular

Your review makes us very proud.

It's really nice to feel mention thoughts that are in our minds and that we try to express in concrete terms.
Strongly true is what you tells us about the location of the hotel: we are convinced that the Caesar Augustus offers anyone the opportunity to be within walking distance of the famous night life of Capri; but equally, always offers to anyone who wants a unique moment, a nest of peace and tranquility in the face of a view that God gave us as a present.

If you are looking for an experience of a lifetime, top-notch service and quiet elegance, the Caesar Augustus is the place for you! Anacapri's sunny yellow boutique hotel sits atop the Mediterranean adorning some of the best views in Capri. The property is lovingly cared for by the Signiori family and every staff member seems to intuitively understand what makes each day enjoyable throughout your stay. Caring for their guests in a manner that is subtle, leaving you wanting for nothing. The appointments of this property are elegant, comfortable and each facet of this property possesses a unique beauty that relaxes, amazes and pleases. Each meal is produced from the garden and sea surrounding this property lovingly tendered from a beautiful orchard and garden onsite. Without question, this hotel is the best hotel in Anacapri and Capri. Give yourself the gift of staying at the Caesar Augustus. The experience will be one that you will cherish for a lifetime.

Room Tip: I recommend a Junior Suite or higher floor. The private balcony is huge and you'll have an addit...

Once you decide to visit the most fascinating island in the world, it makes sense to stay in the best place it offers. Hotel Caesar Augustus experience is a dive into the past, in the Dolce Vita atmospheres, having the modern times comforts. It is located in one of the most scenic spots of the island, its upper part Anacapri, side toward the saddle where Capri town lies. The hotel is perched on a sheer cliff which makes it inaccessible to prying eyes, and to the non stop rhythms of the island. You'll forget the world, you'll find paradise.

Beautifully situated hotel, ten minutes ride from the centre of Capri. Buses and taxis run very regularly. The hotel is set in lovely grounds and gardens, with many terraces on different levels where you can sit and relax. Definitely the best view which should be savoured. Once in the hotel it was difficult to tear ourselves away to explore the rest of the island. Very comfortable beds and experienced and helpful staff. Unlike Vivecca-Chris's review, we should have researched what we wanted to do before going as we found it difficult to extract much information from the reception staff with regard to excursions. Not a suitable hotel for young children in my opinion. In the evening it was very romantic with candles in lanterns everywhere and fairy lights in the bushes and trees. Room was good, bathroom on the small side. The pool area was excellent with a world-class view.

Room Tip: Try and chose a room with a sea view, some terraces were larger than others.

We are very impressed by your words. When you find in the comments of our guests, the correspondence to what we would like to transmit with our passion, then you really can say that we have embarked on a good path.

Your words, however, are a stimulus for us to do better and an obligation to always improve.

Thank you for your review.

Ave Caesar!

The brochure pics do not do the entire ambience justice. The depth of the richness of most areas of the hotel is amazing. The views from our room were to die for. The sunset deck, the infinity pool and the main dining room all present magnificent panoramas of the Gulf of Naples. The service is very good. The dining room staff are exceptional. It is a cab or shuttle ride from the high end shopping zone of Capri, but the views along the way are incredible over the Grand Marina.

The hotel is in Anacapri, which is a good thing as it gets you away from touristy Capri.

The waves of ship bound tourists make the main shopping areas very jammed during the day. Maybe it's the economic turndown of a few years ago, but Capri is a little less glamorous than it was a while back.

Room Tip: Definitely water view.

Just come back from a weekend break to celebrate a birthday of a friend of ours so we were part of a group of 40+.
The hotel is situated on top of a cliff face with stunning views looking back over the back of Naples towards the Almafi coast, Sorrento and Naples. watching sailing ships come in to the Grande Marina below and to the right of the main terrace was very special.
Not much to say more than anyone has already said or that can be judged by the magazine reports.
The staff were great, very helpful and they put up with a lot of noise from our group.
Breakfast was great, the swimming pool warm with views to die for. Our room was above the main terrace and again had views that were very special.
The food for our party was good and very well handled.
Great for a romantic break away from the kids, not sure I would take little ones there as it really is not set up for them.
This is really a sophisticated adults only hotel with prices to match, but Capri s not a cheap place to visit anyhow and this is the best place on the Island.
Capri is good to visit for a couple of days...2-3 max I reckon, after that I would be getting itchy feet.
Lastly when leaving the island for return flights etc, make sure you get your ferry tickets booked, paid for and collected before you actually want to leave as the ferries can and do sell out as we found out to our consternation and almost missed our flights home as we could not get on three separate ferries due to being already sold out due to vast numbers of (in this case South Korean) tourists over for the day.
PS. Blue Grotto is a waste of time and money and I do not appreciate poxy boat-men hustling for tips from the moment I get on the boat to go inside the crappy place.

Room Tip: Sea views of course, we had room 207. Close to but never heard the lift, had views to die for.

We enjoyed our stay at Ceasers Augustus. We were very impressed with the staff's ability to help us plan and schedule our excursions and day trips!

Of all the sight seeing and exploring, my favorite was just to sit by the pool to relax and enjoy the view!
