“Can't agree with EtihadTraveller about not getting ripped off”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

We booked the "dependance" well in advance, but a few days before our arrival, Signora Maresca contacted us to ask whether we would be willing to switch to the cheaper junior suite to enable the hotel to accept other guests who wanted the dependance's kitchen more than we did. Because we were already in Italy when she got in touch, I asked an Italian-speaking friend at home to arrange the change for us. The agreement that they came to was that we would give up the dependance in exchange for a lower aggregate price. (The junior suite didn't quite meet our needs so they split our party into two rooms.)

But when it came time to check out, the bills were prepared with the original price of the dependance rather than the revised price as we had negotiated. I was completely dumbstruck. Because we were in a rush and because I was with my mother and aunt (this was a celebratory trip for their 70th and 65th birthdays), I did not contest the higher charge. One could argue that this was an honest mistake but the way that the bills were all prepared in advance strongly convinced me that Signora Maresca knew exactly what she was doing.

It was such a shock because we did them a favour by allowing them to take on additional guests who had more-specific requirements than we had. (Because the hotel was largely empty, splitting us into two rooms did not affect their capacity.) Sure, the difference was only 40 EUR but given how we had done them a good turn, we expected to be treated as had been agreed.

You can see from my many other reviews that I am generally a fair reviewer but I thought that this really was unacceptable behaviour. Please contact me through the link below if you would like more details.

Our family of 5 persons (3 kids in the age of 3-9) stayed 4 days in Villa Ceselle and enjoyed it a lot. Our 2-storage apartment was newly refurbished and a very smart way of living for a big family like ours. Steffi in the reception was absolutely great. She arranged trips for us and was very care taking and service minded. The lunches and dinners at Villa Gelsomina (the sister hotel) was absolutely great. We will be back!

Looking to get away. From the tourist hustle ans bustle of Capri? Look no further than the Villa Ceselle located in beautiful Anacapri. My husband and I stayed her for 3 nights for part of our honeymoon and we enjoyed it thoroughly. The room they gave us was very spacious with 2 levels, modern and immaculate. The garden setting is lovely and the staff is very accomodating, especially Stephanie whom I found to be extremely helpful and friendly. They also have a restaurant that they will shuttle you back and forth from for free. The restaurant has excellent food and an amazing sea view. Anacapri is gorgeous with many walking paths to explore, we hiked all over and even found our own private swimming spot to enjoy. If you don't enjoy walking and hiking the bus service is convenient and frequent to get you anywhere you want to go including into Capri. The only negative I have to say about it is they give you vouchers for the Internet that are only good for 1 hour. We use a lot of Internet so it was frustrating to have to keep getting new vouchers. In addition every time unlocked my iPhone I would have to log in again. They need to work out this kink. Otherwise I highly recommend!

We visit every year Capri island, so we know most of the hotels in Capri and Anacapri. This year we booked Villa Ceselle in Anacapri, owned by one of the most famous restaurant of the island: Gelsomina alla Migliera. The location, as most of the locations in Anacapri, requires to walk enough to catch a bus or join the town of Anacapri...so be prepared. Rooms are modern and well equipped, some of them have also a nice seaview. There is a garden sorrounding the hotel that looks like a large villa with 2 floors. Breakfast is standard and hotel services are limited to the transfer to the port or to their restaurant. The property, who is running the hotel business since one or two years, is in the middle between family hosting accomodation and service class hotels and probably needs a more special footprint to stand out.

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa ceselle. The family run hotel has been completely renovated recently, the rooms are very clean and spacious with an access to a beautiful little garden.
The place is very relaxing, calm and quiet, away from the crowed, which is a great point in this busy island. We rented motorbikes (they have a deal to get you a better price) but if you are by foot it's only a few minutes walk to the center of Anacapri.
The staff is VERY friendly and VERY helpful. They gave us great advices and helped us organize our trip to the other islands. If not for the place i would go back for them!! So many people try to rip you off in this island, it's not the case at Villa Ceselle!!
Bonus: Free transfer from and to the harbor ( you need to call them prior to your arrival to arrange the shuttle service) Considering the price of Taxis on the island this is a very good point.
I highly recommend this hotel

My husband and I had an extremely pleasant stay at the Villa Ceselle. The hotel is family-run, from the person you picks you up from the Marina Grande, to the person who mends the reception table and breakfast room, and even down to the person who serves you at their restaurant at their main hotel, Da Gelsomina. So if your driver doesn't want to accept your tip, it's most likely cos he's the owner ;). At first we thought the hotel was quite tucked away and not that easily accessible, however once we got our bearings, we realised that everything was really quite close by. The Anacapri town is a short walk away and the bus stop to the blue grotto is just a few steps from the hotel. Go to the blue grotto before 10.30 am, before the cruise ship day trippers descend on the island. We did not have to wait very long when we went at that time, but saw the line steadily build up. The hotel has wifi (they give you the one hour tickets, but that's fine), toilets are clean, linen is fresh, and everything is bright and cheery. If you want to go to the other hotel the family owns, Da Gelsomina, just let the reception know and the mini-van will come get you. The view from the pool at Da Gelsomina is breathtaking, especially at sunset. Proceed to the restaurant for a wonderful meal (remember to make a reservation). Just behind the restaurant, a short walk way is a beautiful area with a round amphitheatre like place where you can watch the sunset and also around the corner is a place where you catch a view of the faraglioni (just ask the hotel for directions).

The Hotel is great, the rooms are of a 5 star level, the staff is very friendly and the location of the hotel is superb. Nothing to fault absolutely stunning, a paradise.
Unfortunately the pool located at the sister hotel Gelsomina is really disappointing.
* Smoking is allowed everywhere
* Sunbeds are elbow to elbow
* Entrance to the pool is very slippery and there is no handrail, very dangerous
* Pool is open to the public aswell, so it gets really crowded and kids rule it
* to get to the pool they have a mini van, very small and uncomfortable
In a word the pool is a disaster, if you are looking for a quite relaxing day this is not the place for you.
