“Absolutely perfect...”
Reviewed June 6, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

We had a warm welcome to a beautiful and well equipped villa. The photos and on line description of the garden areas were what swayed me to book this villa originally and I was not disappointed. The owners have taken great care to create beautiful and atmospheric outdoor areas, with natural shade and colourful plants. We all enjoyed the private pool and I was impressed that the 'pool guy' visited twice in the one week that we were there to make sure the pool was kept pristine. The villa was also thoroughly cleaned from top to toe during our stay.
The area was great to explore with plenty of beautiful beaches near by. The beach book provided by our hosts was a helpful touch. The children have been completely hooked on snorkelling after this holiday as the sea was so clear and full of fish.
We walked to the local taverna on three evenings, where they serve traditional Greek food. When we weren't eating out It was easy to pick up food for BBQ and picnics in nearby Agia Efimia and we fell in love with the bakery there. I would definitely recommend a holiday in this beautiful villa on this beautiful Island. Just wish we could have stayed longer...

Pretty villa with all modern facilities with superb views of egia efimia from the garden .a lovely spot to sit and have breakfast .nice pool although too cold for swimming during our may visit but lots of lovely beaches and coves for A swim in the sea which was pleasantly warm. A peaceful location but a few minutes drive to the port of efimia with lots of choice of restaurants cafes etc. No U.K. Tv channels but a DVD player and good wifi .

“Fabulous”
Reviewed September 4, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

This was our 3rd stay at Villa Vounaki and the second time with friends staying in the other villa. We were not disappointed, everything is of a very high standard, the villa is very well equipped and furnished. The location and gardens are lovely and only a short walk from a local taverna for those who don't wish to travel. Makriotika is well placed for all the best bits on the island - namely Myrtos, Sami, Assos, Fiskardo and only a short drive from Agia Efimia with it's lovely harbour and a good range of restauarants.
Lida and Peter are great hosts and are 'on hand' if you need any help or advice. We were a little worried this year because of the Greek financial crisis but I have to say that this really wasn't a problem at all. Everything was in plentiful supply and the locals were charming. I would wholeheartedly recommend either of Lida's Villas and look forward to returning soon.

“Thank you Lida and Peter for helping to create a wonderful holiday!”
Reviewed August 24, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Beautiful villa in excellent location for exploring the island (car necessary).
The house was spotlessly clean and contained everything one could need for a family holiday. Cleaners came twice a week to keep everything perfect!
Best things for the adults were air conditioning units in the bedrooms and fly screens on all of the downstairs windows and doors - no bugs: bliss. The children loved the pool.
Sea view from the sunny morning eating area. Plenty of seating around the house if you prefer shade.
Recommend the village taverna for meals out.
Tip: make sure you take water and a hat when you visit Assos to walk up to the fortress!
Huge thank you to Lida and Peter for helping to make this a relaxing and successful family holiday.

“Peaceful and beautiful villa holiday”
Reviewed May 29, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

As a family we booked a very early holiday break at villa Vounaki in Makriotika on the strength of the describtion and the reviews, we were not dissapointed.
From the start to finish Lida and Peter were a pleasure to deal with they were very efficient with any request we made i.e. organising transfers to and from the airport.
We have had many vacations in villas on our travels but this one ranks as possibly the best, the level of equipment was high with lots of different touches. The villa was spotlessly clean for arrival and it received a mid week clean to maintain that level, A welome basket was a nice surprise and had enough to keep us going till we had time to collect some goods the following day.
The village is approx 5Km from Aghia Effimia and is in a wonderful setting but a car is essential to get the most of your holiday. There is a friendly local taverna 5mins walk away .

“The most idilic setting for a truely relaxing Greek experience without foregoing all the modern comforts we take for gra”
Reviewed March 18, 2014 for a stay in June 2012

My partner and I have stayed at Villa Vounaki on 8 seperate occasions and at different times of the year. Having stumbled accross the villa online some 10 years ago we couldn't believe our luck. It realy is a superbly maintained and idylic villa situated in the small village of Makriotica overlooking the small fishing port of Agia Efimia to the east, with mountains behind and just concealing the incredible beach of Myrtos beyond that to the west.
Initially we kept this dicovery to ourselves as it was so special, however we felt that this was unfair and have on several occasions invited friends to share in the experience and they too have all been back.
If you love traditional Greek food the local taverna is a must, but there are also many other offerings all within easy driving distance (you do need a car to fully appreciate the surrounding area) and if the traditional Greek hoplitality gets the better of you - then from our experience your taverna hosts either take you home or order a taxis!
For those who love swimming you could not find a more stunning location than the famous Myrtos beach (7 mins by car), but again there are many other beaches and coves - something for everyone - you just need to explore.
If however you do not want to do 'anything', then the villa, its pool and the surrounding gardens and views are just perfect and private - your own little world!
Writing this has made me realise that we were foolish not to go last year - we have just booked again...!
