Just back from paradise. .June27 - july 5th...just myself and Lorraine this time. Lovely warm welcome from George and Isobelle...room 304 third floor. Awoke to amazing sunny sea views from our well positioned balcony.

As i have already given a detailed review last September i dont want to.be repetitive....BUT........thanks to whinging first timers...making me ashamed to be a Brit abroad......a few points.......
This is a great value for money hotel. .Good food clean basic rooms very friendly staff excellent owners...nice pool
If you want 5 star hotel with 24/7 All inclusive then go pay for it!!!!!...
Dont insult George and his wife with stupid demands and trivial complaimts.these are hard working great people who care deeply for thier guests taking pride in their Hotel.

A lot of these complaning guests hardley left the hotel and have no idea just how good Afandou and the rest of Rhodes is

If you want great service and very caring staff decent food and sea views book up here for a fantastic holiday....Dont read the negative crap...we are re booking for September this year....with the rest of my Family..and again 2013.
Thanks again George Isobelle and staff for a fab week very relaxing much appreciated.
We cant wait to return...Yassis!

We have just arrived back from a one week all inclusive stay at the Iris Hotel. Thank you very much to George, Isabelle and Poppy for making our stay very enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They arranged; car hire (including organising a replacement car when I casually mentioned that the air con was as good as it could have been), taxis when needed, provided us with a kettle in our room, and; they even made our 3 year old son lunch for our return journey home. The rooms were very clean and to our surprise included a fridge (ideal for keeping the bottles cold for our 6 month old son). The cot was in first class condition and we very much appreciated being placed on the ground floor. Poppy cleaned our room and she took pride in ensuring that we had everything we needed - she was delightful and very affectionate towards our children. The grounds are extremely well kept and pretty and the sea view was a bonus. The pool area is also clean and tidy and the baby pool is perfect.

We thought that the breakfast was very good with lots to choose from, including fresh bread, jam, fruit, cheese, ham, yogurt, biscuits, French toast, tomatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, baked beans and prunes. Lunch was suitably light and just as enjoyable with plenty of salad, rice, pasta and fresh bread. We enjoyed our evening meal just as much and the occasional Greek dishes were delicious.

From reading some of the latest reviews I think it is unfortunate that some guests expect Champagne on lemonade prices. The hotel is great value for money! On the whole, the clientele of this hotel were just the same as us – nice families and couples looking for a relaxing holiday without breaking the bank. However, some Brits (and others) abroad can be so embarrassing. I do wonder what the Greeks think of us ‘holiday makers’. It would seem that George and Isabella have to put up their fair share of guests, who, in seeking to ‘get their money’s worth’ expect to be able to drink the bar dry and have food available 24/7. Holiday makers looking for this should expect to pay more and should probably do a bit more research before booking. This is a family run hotel with the personal touch and we had a very pleasant stay.

Me and my cousin booked a stay here for mid June just a fortnight before we went. We got a very good deal and were both very pleased. I know a lot of reviews have commented on it not being all inclusive but if you read up before you could find there was a timetable as such and as i'd never done all inclusive this did not bother me or seem to be a problem! I enjoyed the food and thought there was enough variety (i am quite a fussy eater). The choices were generally meat (veal, pork, chicken) fish, potatoes, chips, pasta and rice dishes. There was always salad and bread rolls. Although you could only get alcohol at certain times, this wasn't problematic for us as we did not intend to drink all day every day and the water and soft drink machine was more than ideal!
I have to admit when we first got to our room we were skeptical as they were very basic, but we only used it as a base and despite this it was very clean, with little bars of soap, water glasses, fridge, plenty of storage (and hangers which we thought was a nice gesture). The maid service came every day we were there and there towels and bedding were changed plenty. The maid was very friendly and polite! When we did experience a flood (please bear in mind there plumbing system is not that of ours in the UK) we were immediately moved to another room, with a better view and given the fan we asked for free of charge.
Something to note is the room upstairs with sofas, tv, pool table and computers. We loved relaxing in here and playing pool and sitting on the upstairs balcony (we also enjoyed drinks on the ground floor veranda with amazing views!), we did not realise this was here straight away so make use of it!
For getting around the island we hired a car for a day and i would recommend this! Butterflies were a nice place to visit as was lindos and tskamika beach!
We loved the pool area, very clean and pleasant, i never saw anyone struggle for sun beds and whilst we were there more were brought out.
Overall we did not pay an awful lot and feel we got a lot for our money, a lovely hotel which was clean with decent food and amazing views which was all we wanted a nice relaxing holiday.
We did venture out to afandou one night and went to a very lively bar and had a good night so there is also nightlife if you are after it, and falikari is 10 minutes away.
The most important thing for us was the amazing staff who are doing everything they can to make the best of their hotel and constantly improving, i know they have lots of plans for the future including a bar upstairs too! Isabelle, Eddie and George all were very welcoming, chatting and friendly. They were always running around making sure everyone was okay and everyone was having a nice time. I thought it was a lovely personal touch how involved they are with their customers as a lot of management sit in offices! They honestly couldn't have done more for us from organising taxis, boat trips and car hires to a friendly chat about football! Thankyou to all the staff for a lovely stay :)

Just returned from Hotel Iris. Booked a last minute trip on the back of great reviews. It was a good deal and you definitely get what you pay for. The rooms were very basic but also very clean. The food was of decent quality but limited choice especially for vegetarians. There was a lack of sunbeds, most were reserved before 8 o'clock. There are now restrictions on the all inclusive package which are strictly adhered to (beer was actually turned off whilst a guest was mid flow) so no beer before 12.30 or between 3.30 and 6.30. All drinks finish at 10.30pm. Afandou was a 10 minute walk away but not the prettiest of villages and the beach was a waste of time. Overall a good holiday for a decent price but marred by the petty AI restrictions.

absolutely dreadful - we ordered 2 x twin rooms with a sea view & was offered 2 almost subterrainian smelly damp mouldy apartments with an awfull sewage smell on the pation without a sea view! after an extremely intense & assertive agurement we got better rooms. the showers were inedequate & flooded the floor. we had no complimentary toiletries. most rooms had a large bunk bed obscuring the view. towels were often stained. there was loud noise from the nearby trunk road. food was very dissapointing & often cold & recycled. lift very dangerous with one wall of the shaft exposed inside the lift. no restaurant as such! pool ok though not enough sun beds. strange to have to clear your own tables & etc! we did eat out alot because of the poor food quality & afandou was good for that! rhodes is an interesting place to visit but we would definately not stay at this hotel ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me and my partner have just returned from a two week stay at the Iris and both agree that we had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday, getting good value for the price that we paid.

We were a little disapointed with the strict times of the availablity of all inclusive drinks and meals, arriving at the hotel around 3.30 in the afternoon and the only thing being available within AL was soft drinks, however, once we knew the routine we adapted our days.
The choice of food was quite limited, espeicially for myself who is a vegetarian, the fish on offer was often fried and not very appealing. The rest of the menu did not give much choice, the meat dishes being eadible but sometimes not enjoyable. Children may find it difficult to have a balanced diet whilst here.

The rooms were kept clean and tidy on a daily basis, towels and sheets being changed every 3 days, our maid, Poppy, was very friendly and did all she could with the means she had to make sure the rooms were comfortable. The beds however, were very uncomfortable! lol

The pool and bar area was always kept clean, the sunbeds were also quite uncomfotable but in general, the pool area was a pleasant place to be.

Those with walking difficulties may struggle if wanting to leave the hotel by foot, down a steep bank to the local supermarket and the 10 minute walk to local town of Afandou was a little off road! Sergios restaraunt is definately worth a visit and there are several bars where you can enjoy cold pints and long cocktails whilst watching the world go by! If you do want to go out by taxi, these were arranged immediately by the hotel staff, Faliraki being a short drive away.

The weather was amazing whilst we were there, if anything a little too hot!

The staff at the hotel were all pleasant and polite, we had no issue with any. We did have a small problem with flooding in the bathroom, when we informed George, we were immediatley offered an alternative room and many apologies! This was all sorted very quickly.

The evenings were very quiet around the bar area, most guests going elsewhere, this did get a little tedious towards the end of the holiday and could have been improved with a little bit of music or a greater variety of drinks being on offer within AL.

Overall we did enjoy our stay and were sad to be coming home!

Just got back from this hotel and the only good things about it was the views and the clean pool, rooms where clean but the beds where awfull hard with the springs prominent, the curtains did'nt shut over the full width of the window so letting the light through also they had rips and holes in them, the cost of the air con was a rip off the cost showing before we went wa s7 euros per night but conveniently went up yo 10 euros as we landed in a freak heat wave you had no option but to pay it. The food was'nt good and most people we got to know ended up eating out at night. The snacks were a joke and the all inclusive drinks were too, you could only get spirits 6.30pm to 10.30pm and they were that weak you could'nt get tiddly if you tried and there was'nt much choice, the wine was like viniger. The owners (Basil Fawlty has we named him sure lived up to that name) his wife was lovely though and was very helpfull. When you went to get your meal it was likethe food police as he stood at the end to make sure you did'nt over do it and get too much, there where no sweet stuff for afters and after some people complaining they put a jelly on one night WOW. there was only tomatos for breakfast once and they only had bacon on twice and that was in littles piecs not very appetizing at all. in fact it got to the stage where you dreade going in to see what there was to eat. i think it was a poor excuse for an all inclusive hotel all together.
