“Good restaurant for a rainy night”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

Ate with a business colleague during a road trip. Food good, generous quantity, but not outstanding for the price paid. Service quite friendly and attentive.

“Ok, but tired compared with le Premium next door.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2012

Ordinary. Only came for lunch, so ordered from the mid-day menu; perhaps only fair to judge the food from that stand-point. Just ok, service was ok, we never went back.

“Average French food, good service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2012

Le Fer a Cheval is in a pretty town with spectacular hills rising to the north. The night we went to the restaurant, we were the ONLY table (unless they got new diners past our leaving time, 10:45pm.) The service was friendly and competent, new drink requests were swiftly handled, and the atmosphere was fine. The food was only average for a South of France place, which is not at all bad! Opening act pate fois gras was dry and not up to snuff. My filet mignon of ceal was very nicely done and arrived on a very hot plate. The sauce was a bit over- salted. The local wine was just okay, I would not order it again. The dessert was a multi- layer flaked dough with sweets and fruit and was delightful! I would return, but first try others in the area.
