We spent 2 weeks this summer and it was one of the best houses we have ever rented. The house is large, really nice and the owner Sonia gave us all kind of tips during our stay. I would definitley recommend to anyone who wants to spend some days in the region

“A small piece of paradise”
Reviewed August 22, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We already had high expectations for Bastide St Pierre prior to our arrival but it far exceeded anything we could have dreamed of. We travelled with our 2 young boys and some Australian friends, with their 2 young daughters, who wanted a rural French holiday. Prior to our arrival in France Sonia provided us with some excellent information on the local area and details specific to the property, including information on the closest supermarket, boulangerie, petrol station etc. fantastically helpful.

Well what can we say about the house?! It is a utopian paradise in an already beautiful part of France. Lovingly renovated it incorporates some incredibly tasteful decor with utilitarian necessities making it a real home away from home. The bedrooms are all very spacious and incredibly comfortable with the master bedroom adjoined by an en suite bathroom large enough to have a party in! The kitchen area is simply stunning and we adored cooking large family meals whilst sampling the spoils from our daily trips to the vineyards and surrounding villages of St Emilion. Fully equipped with everything you need, and more, for a comfortable self catering holiday we were all very impressed by the quality of the renovation.

The rear part of the house is quite frankly huge! A massive expanse of lawn area where the children ran and ran and ran and ran and occasionally played the odd game of croquet! The outdoor patio is wonderful and the BBQ area, set a little away from the main house, is set in a tumbledown, but safe, old barn and is a stunning area to eat, particularly at dusk.

The surrounding area is fantastic and the house is ideally situated for the delights of the bustling city of Bordeaux, a one hour drive, the stunning St Emilion, 15 mins drive, and Libourne, 20 mins drive. If you want to venture further afield the autoroute is close by too. Whatever day trip you take, Bastide St Pierre is just the perfect property to return to. You instantly feel at ease whilst you are there and we couldn't fail to recommend this property to anyone. The owners are wonderful and renovated a stunning property into something that is just perfect. Not only that, throughout our stay they were incredibly helpful and provided continued support, even furnishing us with some very interesting history of the bastide.

If we could give this property 6* we would. Simply outstanding.

“Wonderful house in a great location!”
Reviewed August 9, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We had a wonderful time at the Bastide St. Pierre. Sonia has lovingly restored this 1860 farm manor house. The house is very spacious with a large, very well-equipped and modern kitchen and dining area giving onto a nice patio through French doors. The master bedroom upstairs is large and very luxurious and the master bath feels like you are at a relaxing spa. In all, there are five spacious bedrooms, three upstairs and two downstairs, and three and half ample bathrooms. There is also a romantic pavilion for outdoor eating on the corner of the property. There were seven of us and the house accommodated everyone comfortably. The location is also top notch, with St. Emilion just 10 to 15 minutes away. Other points of interest are within easy striking distance, like Libourne (with its fabulous Sunday market) and some lovely restaurants, literally in the middle of rolling vineyards. Sonia was incredibly thoughtful and gracious. She has compiled a mini-guide book with excellent travel tips (as well as all you need to know about the house). She was genuinely eager for us to have a wonderful stay and was always volunteering very helpful suggestions for things to do and places to see. We highly recommend taking day trips to Sarlat and to the Dune de Pyla, both of which are in Sonia’s guide. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and give Sonia and her lovely Bastide our highest recommendation.

“Highly recommend this lovely farmhouse”
Reviewed July 1, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We very much enjoyed our stay at Bastide St. Pierre last month. The owners have converted a lovely sandstone farmhouse into a comfortable vacation destination. The house is located on a quiet street of a small village near St. Emilion. The bathrooms and kitchen are modern and sleek, but the modernity is balanced by the farmhouse architecture and a great use of antique furniture. The beds were huge, and the sheets smelled like lavender. It was a great location to explore the surrounding vineyards, and the town of Bordeaux, but we mostly enjoyed afternoons reading in the outdoor pavilion and listening to the doves coo. We also spent many of our evenings in the pavilion while enjoying the local wines! I would highly recommend Bastide St. Pierre to friends and family for a peaceful and relaxing vacation in the French countryside. There were only 5 of us, but the house could easily accomodate many more.

“Amazing.....by far the best place we have stayed in”

We were lucky enough to stay in this beautiful house to celebrate a friends 40th birthday in early September and it made for a wonderful long lazy weekend of sunshine, wine and fabulous food. The owners Saul and Sonia were superb and couldn't have been more helpful, they recommended the best local french markets, vineyards, restaurants and places to go which saved us a lot of time and each of their recommendations were spot on!
The house is fantastically restored and whilst keeping all the old charm it has all the modern comforts you would expect when staying away.
Our only regret is that we were only there for a long weekend and wished we had booked a whole week.
I would definitely recommend this house and will be returning again soon!

“The ideal rental house for a large group in the middle of French Wine Country!”

I am eager to leave an extremely positive reviews about this house near Bordeaux and St-Emilion. I highly recommend it and would rent it again in a heartbeat. This very spacious farmhouse was completely and tastefully redone and accomodated very easily our large group (about 10 of us). I loved the large open floor kitchen/dining area, and outside patio which were the settings for many long evening meals with our extended family. All the rooms are spacious and comfortable, bathrooms are nicely redone. I also loved the location of this house. You are in the middle of Wine Country 10 minutes only away from one of the most beautiful, quaint and wordly renowned town of St-Emilion, and 1/2 hour from the beautiful city of Bordeaux. Even closer is the city of Libourne where we shopped on Farmer’s Market days. The surroundings are spectacular. Whether your plan is to “just chill” or enjoy all that this region offers, (from wine tasting, to bike riding, or taking day trips to many amazing historical surrounding cities, to going to the beach, etc...), this house has it all to make your vacation very enjoyable.

“What a Fantastic Find”

What a fantastic find this was. We thought about not sharing it, and keeping it a secret, however this would be rather unfair to the owners, who clearly have exquisite taste and a real eye for quality.
The house is just delightful, from the moment we arrived and walk into the enormous & impressive kitchen. Then deciding which uniquely decorated bedroom we were going to sleep in. We could not stop smiling as we explored the house noticing all the unique features and attention to detail.
When we eventually decided to leave the house and see the sights, we realised just how well located this property is and visited, St Emilion, Bordeaux, Bergerac, Libourne, Cognac and Archachon, to mention only a few.
There is also no shortage of local shops, restaurants or vineyards. We particularly enjoyed our visits to L’Atelier de Candale, which is a short drive and nice for a glass of wine whilst watching the sun set in the midst of the vines.
This was one of our best vacations. We couldn’t have wished for more from the house which was fully equipped to meet all our needs. We took home some great memories (and wine).
