“Great little euro-style cafe”
Reviewed March 10, 2012

The menu is small, but we've enjoyed every meal we've had there -about 4trips so far. The food was all freshly prepared and wonderfully seasoned. Be sure to try their soups. We've tried two so far, and one bowl is thick and hearty enough to be a meal! and don't leave without trying the gelato. It is simply the best ever and is made right on the premises. We've also tried some of the pastries and they taste as good as they look. Yummy!
The atmosphere is casual and laid back. It can get very busy so we try to get there a little early to avoid the crowd. Go, enoy, you won't be sorry.

“"stick with a pannini and dessert"”
Reviewed September 5, 2011

My husband and I met our cousin here. We had a restaurant.com coupon, so we thought we would give this place a try. We went at 5:00 pm and did not need a reservation. We ate outside because we found it noisy inside... looked out at the parking lot but it was a nice summer evening. This is a casual Italian place with a small menu.

First we ordered calamari and artichokes french. We had wine as well. The server came out several minutes later and said they were out of the calamari. The artichokes french were good.. I would have liked bread for dipping in the sauce but they don't serve it..you have to ask for it and pay for it.

Then I ordered eggplant parm and my husband ordered penne with vodka sauce. The food was served room temp at best and we had to send it back.. the server apologized... she admitted to me when we paid the bill that she let it sit too long as she was busy with something else. As for the taste, the eggplant was lovely but the sauce for the penne was too salty to enjoy. My husband said he couldn't eat the vodka sauce because it was also too salty.

Our cousin ordered one of the panninis and she was very satisfied. We all had homemade gelato and that was good, and the pastries on display looked lovely as well.

Summary: not a great meal but if you stick with pannini and dessert, you may be satisfied.

“unimpressed”
Reviewed August 10, 2011

I went with a group of friends from work a few times. We probably ate there 4 or 5 times. The lunch menu was small, food was just ok, prices were a little steep considering. Its a very small place so wait times for food can be a bit. I dont recommend the fish... didnt taste that fresh.
The gelato was delicious, i will gove them that, but the pastries..... here is where it was a let down.
Right when you walk in you can see the huge pastry display they have. There are so many choices and everything looks amazing. In out trips there I have tried 8-12 different kinds of their cakes... and they all taste exactly the same. Bland, uninspired, totally unimpressed. What a huge letdown given the appearance of the cakes and cookies.
Place triesd to be a euro cafe style hangout, and the coffee and gelato are good, but the rest is bland and not worth wasting money on. Go to Savoias on culver if you want italian pastries and cookies.
