“Reccomend!”

Definately one of the nicer hostels I have stayed in in South America. Very nice atmosphere and great staff in one of the most lovely places in Uruguay. Only downside is the small kitchen but the rest easily makes up for that.
Reccommend!

I booked one of the "superior" rooms, for an astonishing USD$ 240/night. The room was very small and dirty. The AC didn't work in the first day. WiFi didn't work at all.

The towels were dirty, and the support stained. During my 3 days stay, no one cleaned the room. The breakfast contained only a bread and some fruits, in a very dirty place full of mosquito. The staff doesn't care about mosquitos in your food. They just keep hanging out and talking with each other.

The people in front desk are friendly (most of them) but useless. They can"t solve any of your problems and none of them was able to give a single recommendation about restaurants, bars or grocery store. Probably because they're tourists as well. Some of them can't speak spanish.

And, a surprise: if you want to pay with credit cards, there's a 5% fee.

This was a very dirty hostel with flies everywhere. The double room we rented seemed very nice in the pictures online but it was a total disappointment when we arrived. Only the bed fits in the bedroom, there is no window, and the toilet couldn't be worse. It seemed as they did not finish the construction. And it costed 80 dollars!! I never had such a bad experience with a hostel/hotel!!

Room Tip: Don't stay here

In lonely planet I read this was one of the best hostels in Uruguay, or even South America. What a dissappointment. There were flies everywhere, the six bed dorm was the smallest I´ve ever been in (and I´ve been in many), and a roommate and I have been robbed. Money was stolen from him and me (because it was so small and all the travelling stuff like clothes was laying around, it is easier to steal). I slept in a so called new part, but it seemed to be the part where the staff stayed before. There the hole place was lying open, people were working there. Don´t have a clue what they were doing. Some people of the staff were arrogant, trying to be the most popular person of the hostel.
The only good thing was a barbecue one night.

We had an amazing time at this hostel. It was very clean, good breakfast, the staff is awesome and the activities are great too. Can definitely recommend horse riding at the beach..Make sure to try the dinner and the wine at the beach bar, it was delicious!!

This hostel was great. The hostel is two buildings (on on the beach and one a 2 min walk away). Stay at the house which is not on the beach, that way when you want to go to bed you can. There is a party every night at the location on the beach.

Loved the hostel. Great staff, and Del Diablo is a awesome place to hang out. They offer dinner every night for 10$US. The dinner was good each night we were there, one of the night to die for!

Hang out on a hammock, surf and drink.

Room Tip: Stay in the building not on the beach so that you can sleep when you want to. To get to the other b...

With this hostel it really depends on what you're looking for.
They have a good atmosphere and friendly staff. In the evening there's a communal dinner for 10 USD which is great and makes it super-easy to meet people.

However, the kitchen is tiny and the bathrooms and dorms are not too clean. Also, if you prefer quiet, it might be advisable to get a private room. I stayed at the girl's dorm for 2 nights and it wasn't nice. It sleeps 8 girls and is so tiny that I did not find the space to even put my backpack on the floor. Since the dorm was fully booked, it felt crammed with little fresh air. And of course, drunken girls noisily tried to make their way into bed all through the night.

Stay here if you:

want to meet other people easily

Stay away if you:

want to cook
prefer cleanliness
want to avoid spoiled American flip-flop-girlies who say things like "ugh, there's a bug in my blueberries. That's, like so gross…"

Room Tip: Do not choose the girl's dorm (when you're a girl, obviously)
