What a tremendous surprise after reading mediocre reviews of both the hotel and the attraction. The falls ARE more than a trickle -- they're beautiful. The hotel offers access to an area of the falls not visible to the public. We stayed in the old portion of the hotel, which reminded me of an old (meaning, once was grand and has not been updated, but is still great) Adirondack hotel. There seemed to be a newer addition, which I didn't go into. The grounds are beautiful and extensive, allowing great walks to the falls and a 2 mile running/nature trail along a river, past a field of deer and apalca. Although the hotel was full, we hardly saw anyone else other than in the dining room, which was right on the falls. Dinner was very good and the setting and service couldn't be beat. Beds were comfy, everything was quiet. It is very safe. No, it is not luxurious. But if you're looking for a high level of luxury, perhaps you won't be driving your way through Chile anyway. This is a perfect one night stop-over if driving from Santiago to Pucon.
